Curious: In a multiple attacker scenario, does it make sense to go for a choke on anybody but the last one? Yep, but not always. When you can get your intended victem off-balanced so that you can manuver them as a momentary shield between you and the rest of the group. Depending on the intensity of the conflict and your opponenets physiological/emotional/mental state you can even get away with knocking them out before moving on to the next target or before running from an escalating confrontation. I've used this once in a street situation and I know of LEO's, bouncers, body guards and bounty hunters who have also succesfully used this strategy. BTW I've been away from the list and my computer since my marrage last November. It's good to be back! - - Elrik Gubisch Jundis rockelf@autobahn.org "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. A Howl etc: A most impressive display of erudition on the medical front. Could one of its participants summarize for me the practical application from a knuckle-dragging point of view? Re isometrics: My understanding is that it is not a good thing to hold your breath when doing isometrics ("back pressure on the heart" was the phrase used-- obviously layman talking to layman) and this is what 97% of people do-- as they "hold" their muscles, they hold their breath. Thus when I teach someone about isometrics, instead of saying that the effort should be for 10 seconds, I tell them (NLP thinking here BTW) to do it for 5-6 strong breaths instead of saying "Don't hold your breath." And I too would dearly love to know if anyone could help me locate a source for "Bullworker" devices. We evolve in our thinking through experience, and John was very upfront is saying that some previously held positions no longer seemed valid to him. As he said, at what point do we know enough to express an opinion? If we wait until "all the facts" are in, we will never contribute anything, and I feel he was very honest in addressing this point. Thanks to Dr. Death for bringing up Alfredo Ramirez' segment of the camp; I spaced out mentioning him. As always, Jan brings a particular patience and humor to the kind of devastation he can dish out in his grappling. Thank gosh he's such a nice guy! Uli and Achim Weidle of Pekiti Tersia-Europe hosted Guro Dave Gould of Lameco Eskrima Orihinal for a seminar. I had a very good time as Uli and Achim are always very good hosts, and the Dave's instruction was outstanding. I was very inpressed with his technical knowledge and skill and his. I was also impressed with his command of the Visayan dialect. On top of that, Dave is an approachable instructor and a real nice fella. I hope to meet up with him again in the future. I highly recommend him to anyone who might be in a position to train with him, be it at a seminar or in a more formal atmosphere. One more thing, anyone that will be in Europe say in the late may time frame should consider contacting Uli or me regarding the annual seminar with Grand Tuhon Leo T. Gaje. Regester early as the seminar will be on a US military installation, and I'll need the time to work out the visitors passes. Miramiming salamat po!
