It was my hope to inspire people to read what is already there before asking questions. But I must admit that Ray is most entitled to pull my tail, I had him chasing his one time because I looked up a back issue of the ED in the wrong year. However Ray, given my double digit IQ in matters of computers and the internet, would you seriously want ME helping anyone? ;-) And anyway, a high % of the several people I've gotten to try to sign up for the ED have had problems. Maybe the process is idiot proof, but maybe my friends are a class of better idiots. ;-) or maybe the process has a glitch or three. > A while back someone, I believe it was Crafty, mentioned ordering information > for a book called "The Seven Minute Rotator Cuff Solution," (At least I think > that is what it was called). Anyway whip out your credit card, give them a howl and say " I want my 7 Minute Rotator Cuff Solution". A very good, very practical book. Top Dog's shoulder used to periodically go out until I gave him this book (Sam Tendencia saved the day with his Hilot when Eric's shoulder went out at the 1988 San Jose Nationals.) Good preventative as well as rehabilitative programs and for most of us (certainly me) its explanation of how the shoulder works is a big help. Hope this helps, Steve ------------------------------ From: Date: Sun, 21 Mar 1999 02:47:39 EST Subject: eskrima: Rotor Cuffs. I had some problems with my rotor cuff a while back. It was strained pulling half ton chain motors to the grid of a 70 foot theater.(ouch). I liked the health for life book..seven minute rotor cuff......yadda yadda....But, I liked the Poliquin Principles much, much, better. Less theory than Jerry Robinson, and more real world experience. Any of the external rotator exercises listed by Coach Poliquin work well. Especially the Cuban Snatch.(Lots of jokes on that one down here near Miami). Since watching the Dog Brothers tapes, starting some two years ago, I have become a big time junkie on power hitting drills, fluid attack, etc. You need to end your session with some rotor cuff strengthening and stretching to balance your shoulder strength. Since we are on that subject,....maybe Crafty could explain the tire throwing drills used by Top Dog and himself???--TCSNO@aol.com...Tom Furman ------------------------------ From: "Gary 808" Date: Sun, 21 Mar 1999 02:53:07 -0800 Subject: eskrima: re: Martial Arts Riddle (???) > From: howard bobs > Date: Fri, 19 Mar 1999 11:09:21 -0800 (PST) > Subject: eskrima: Martial Arts Riddle > > Greetings Stickpeople > > Riddle me this.In the english language there > are three words that end in GRY. I would also like to thank his instructors Louis Lindo, Dom Lopez and Michael Zimmer who helped him make our seminar a success. Our students appreciated Mr. Chan's Balintawak Lesson Plan as it effectively covered the basics of this very fine art. We thank Mr.Chan for his clear and precise teaching skills which helped us catch on quickly to the new concepts and skills presented. All of our students have learned a great deal from Mr. Chan and we have incorporated many Balintawak concepts and techniques into our own arts. We are looking forward to a followup Balintawak Seminar with Mr. Chan in the future. Once again, everybody at the seminar had a great time and we thank the Villasin Balintawak Eskrima Assoc. for making it happen. Butch, Tom Joerg's American Karate School Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, USA ------------------------------ From: Rocky Pasiwk Date: Sun, 21 Mar 1999 15:30:10 -0800 Subject: eskrima: weight loss Ok all you all knowing oracle of wisdom out there, I need some help. I went to the Dr's the other day, a specialist, to see what's up with my body. This guy seemed to know his stuff he nailed my physical history right on the head, unfortunately he didn't have anything good to say!! We talked about how in high school I was probably one of the best built kids in school, and a few years after school I remained the same, enfact I always wanted to weigh about 190lbs, but couldn't put on the 10lbs no matter what I tried. Then in my mid 20s I started putting on a few pounds, which I associated to business, stress and all and not competing on a professional level any more, plus being down for almost a year with a back injury. Then in the last 5 years I have put on almost 75 lbs, and no matter what I do now it just doesn't want to come off. So finally I went to see this specialist, of course were still waiting for the blood work to come back ( seems like he took a gallon ), but without seeing the test yet, he said he could almost bet its my thyroid. He said that in young guys especially athletic, one and especially one that took it to the level I did, before I was even 20 years old , he said the thyroid some times gets thrown into over drive, however eventually it will either correct itself or unfortunately almost burn itself out. If this is the case he didn't seem too optimistic about it. He said there isn't much to do, they have some medicines which I didn't like the side affects I was hearing. So I was wondering if any of you herbal Gurus out there have heard anything. Right now my daily routine is 10 mins first thing in the morning on my tread mill. Eskrima class four times a week, weights everyday ( for toning not size ) Ukrainian wresting twice a week, and I started Pentjak one day a week two weeks ago. I eat lots of melons, chicken, very little red meat, (once a week ) lots of water, very little pop, no alcohol, no fried food, no junk food. I know it helps to eat 5 or 6 times a day small meals, but this is not a feasible thing to do when you have other business to attend to. The weight has hindered my sparing and cardio ability. It is kinda cool though when I give seminars, I like to find the usually small fast guy in the crowd, and smoke him as far a speed goes, fortunately a family trait ( fast hands ) you should try to block one of my mothers slaps!!!! However having a daughter that turns one year old next month makes you look at things a little different! No disrespect to the Man but I really don't want to be the next Ed Parker. Thanks for the help!!
