Could anyone elaborate on what this was? I too have heard stories about it. I picture something akin to Indiana Jones stuff but pitch dark. ------------------------------ From: Loki Jorgenson Date: Tue, 11 May 1999 09:09:38 -0700 (PDT) Subject: eskrima: Inosanto in Vancouver May 15/16 Last notice: guro Dan Inosanto in Vancouver CANADA May 15/16 1999 at Simon Fraser University Silat/Kali/Shooto/JKD see http://www.cecm.sfu.ca/~loki/Kali/fma_news/inosanto99.html - -- Loki Jorgenson / loki @ cecm.sfu.ca ------------------------------ From: jkdc@webtv.net (robert pugh) Date: Tue, 11 May 1999 06:16:31 -1000 (HST) Subject: eskrima: FMA/JKD/BJJ in Fukuoka, Japan (delurking) Hello, Looking for any schools, gyms or clubs in the Fukuoka city area of Japan. Fukuoka city is in the Fukuoka prefecture (duh : ) ) on the southern Kyushu island. I'll be moving there in Aug. Looking for any leads for FMA/JKDC/BJJ/Shooto-submission or anything similar. H'mm is this why we have so many styles (in ALL the arts) today that are named after their founder / greatest practionier / place where they are taught ???? Or as Top Dog said in DB#1 - This is this! (swinging a stick real hard!) An interesting post. Keep up the good work Ray Jon... ------------------------------ From: John Frankl Date: Tue, 11 May 1999 13:24:21 -0400 (EDT) Subject: eskrima: re: tunnel of death How many of us really believe in this HongKong-movie-inspired tunnel of death stuff? Or put less inflammatorily, I am very skeptical and would appreciate hearing others' opinions, but even more I'd like to see some archaeological evidence of such a tunnel. Any takers? So she did it with TKD. These people got some >really, really fast high kicks. I wouldn't do that myself...besides, what >are the chances the suspect was a trained knife fighter? Well, good for the cashier. So she did it with TKD. And thats fine! I never said I'd do it. We don't know if she would have won against Tyson... But who really cares? Someone was insulting TKD, like what you learn cleaning toilets. I don't agree. I also don't train TKD. But I respect her for pulling it off. I watched a boxing fight between Klitschko and a US boxer. The US boxer simply took every blow till round 10. Klitschko had knocked out every one else before round ten. He never fought round 11 before, even though being a professional boxer. The US boxer then beat the shit out of Klitschko and Klitschko gave up before being beaten senseless. What does it tell us? Is there a magic Round 11 System to beat Russian trained boxers?. Nope! Simply stated, it's not the system, it's your commitment. Do what you trained well and you're better off then the master of the mouth. If you get into a fight, nobody will guarantee you're not facing the world's best knife fighter. You will have to get along with what you trained. I respect the girl for winning with what she trained, even if I don't and won't train it. But I respect it. Choose your system, and as we're both on this list, our prefrence is FMA. But don't call another system something which is found around the toilet. A cute little girl close by might just be there to kick your ass :) Rudolf. ------------------------------ From: Date: Tue, 11 May 1999 19:17:08 -0700 (PDT) Subject: eskrima: . ------------------------------ End of Inayan_Eskrima/FMA-Digest V6 #198 **************************************** To unsubscribe from this digest, eskrima-digest, send the command: unsubscribe eskrima-digest -or- unsubscribe eskrima-digest your.old@address in the BODY of email (top line, left justified) addressed to majordomo@hpwsrt.cup.hp.com.
