Their web site (www.safariland.com) has some details. Basically, they use a tighter weave with a much thinner fiber so that thin implements can not pass between and displace the fibers. They do two sorts of test, a gravitational drop test with a vest, a penetrator, and a 7.3 kg weight and one with a penetrator and compressed-air cannon. ------------------------------ From: Drew Zimba Date: Wed, 9 Jun 1999 09:47:40 -0700 (PDT) Subject: eskrima: Picture = 1000 words??? ************************ AS to article pictures you can always counter a picture. It is reality that is hard to counter. Taking things out of context is not wise. Rgards, Carlton H. Fung, D.D.S. Redondo Beach, Ca. ************************* Well said, Carlton. I've been thinking of how to word this concept without going into a long example. Thanks! Still pictures are a very poor substitute for video (which is a very poor substitute for hands-on training) when trying to get the gist of a technique, especially in a fast-paced, sensitivity-based art like Kali. Those successfully completing this two day seminar and passing the exam at the end will receive full Level 1 KdM Instructor Certification from Suro Inay. The cost of the two day seminar/certification is $275. Kadena De Mano is an Eskrima style that Suro Inay learned from the late GrandMaster Max Sarmiento. The literal translation of KdM is 'Chain of the Hands'. KdM is a combination of empty-hand and knife/dagger techniques. KdM covers basic and advanced hand and knife drills as well as permuted locks from the basic/advanced drills. Lock/flow/trap practice drills are stressed. Additional levels of certification are available after successful completion of Level 1. Those interested in attending or in obtaining more information should contact Suro Inay at eskrimador@aol.com. Craft, I've got the first set of tapes and Mr. Dog (May I call him TOP?) is awesome but when I watch the fights I don't see all the tricky footwork he teches on the tape - am I missing something or is that an "art' thing that gets lost in the heat of battle?
