Hopefully all should be working fine now, but please let me know if you encounter any problems with the new website. The disk space available is much larger, thus users are now able to search through ~1500 informational files and past digest issues (all issues since 1/1/1996). This will hopefully be useful when you need to research a particular topic. For those with digital video cameras, I'd also like to experiment with a select number of 'technique of the week' submittals. Interested? Just email me your Real Video file and I'll experiment with putting it up on the new website. In his first election bid his party drew about 5 percent of the vote, then the depression hit and all sorts of people were out of work. Basically, if you were in the unemployment line you were either a Nazi or a Communist because those were the only people who were promising to do something. Hitler was duely elected by people who were suffering big time and wanted out of a crack. When people are faced with hard times they will support all sorts of stupid stuff to get their tails out of the fire. Furthermore, people will do all sorts of damning stuff to others to preserve their way of life. Maybe you are too young to remember the American apartheid, but 35 years ago the laws were still in effect that seperated blacks and whites. Thing was, those laws were supported by the general populace. All comments about the general intellegence of the people aside, we can honestly put a large part of the reason why down to the simple fact that those bad laws didn't affect them personally. It wasn't them being inconvienced, so who cared? Ever wonder why California has such screwy knife laws? They don't make sense until you look at them from the angle of ethnic control. They didn't bother the average white middle class taxpayer so they stood. I know the gun debate has been beaten to death, but consider how many people who want to take guns away from the populace don't have them and don't live in areas or a lifestyle where guns make sense. Still I would like to point out a lesson learned from growing up in the streets. The only time you get a wholesale slaughter is when only one person has a gun. Everyone freaks about Columbine, but the year after I graduated from Venice High School four guys came onto campus and opened fire. The school cops, the Boys VP and a few of the students returned fire...the shooters ran. Body count, zero. Face it folks as knife fighters we ought to love the idea of gun control. That puts us on top of the pile. ------------------------------ From: "Steve Yarnall" Date: Sat, 3 Jul 1999 16:14:40 -0400 Subject: Re:eskrima: Hypothetically speaking..... From: "James Hudgens" Date: Fri, 02 Jul 1999 19:11:23 -0400 Subject: eskrima: Hypothetically speaking..... <> I think it depends on 'how' the prospective student is making comments. If they are being arrogant and over-bearing I believe it's time for a little one-on-one with you (the instructor) and 'show' that person how you respond to different situations (the 'what ifs). I do not mean you hurt the person but a dose of reality sometimes goes a long way As for correcting students, this (regardless of the manner) is unacceptable and should be dealt with immediately. I would politely explain to the prospective student that they are a guest in your school and are out of place. If they have a problem with that approach then I would ask them to please leave. Allowing something like that to go unchecked erodes the respect of your students and the spirit of your school. Yo, Joe hombre ... I bet if you were to walk up to most Americans and ask them if they knew what th eFederalist Papers are they'd guess something published in D.C. by the Federal Govt, the Washington Post (Times) maybe? :-) ... and ultimately it may be very related to FMA and all serious MA if/when the anti-weapons consciousness takes hold of enough of the common emotion (notice I didn't say consciousness or -reasoning-). Like the man said about the UK ... guns, then what? "Interesting Times" if you ask me ... cause as usual the bad guys will have anything and everything they want. The "well-meaning" will turn the general populace into sheep. Consider: someone takes footage from news clips on Dog Bros Gatherings and says: "This should be outlawed" riding on the tails of successful gun restrictions. Can't happen here, right? I think I'm gonna go back and check out the Federalist Papers ... haven't thought about that since junior high ... ++important stuff. Venus Williams would make one helluva stickfighter. The grace, power, and athleticism are extraordinary. 4) And on a different note: I just saw "Saving Pvt.
