I was in DC last week and was in the park right across the street from the FBI building and worked with my sparing partner for over 3 hours and no one not the police not the FIB told me we could not I did get some comments by one agent coming out for lunch that if I ever need a job to come and see him hehe I have even trained in the parks in Calif. and in both good and bad areas I have had police stop and look to see what I am doing I have even had them here where I live stop and look to see but never once have I been told no I don't hide them I carry then in there case on my back as I walk when traveling to any country or any town I have taken my sticks this way over the last year flying and traveling over 45000 flight miles I even put them on the plane with me as carry on luggage not once was I ever approached I have been doged each time I travel by the guards I have been searched and padded down because I have set off the machine over and over but never once has anyone ever questioned me in Calif. or anywhere else for that fact I even carry mace and a kublacon on my key chain and never once again have I been stopped or questioned as I said is this luck ? or is this something I am doing unconsciously that's keeping the police and security from giving me problems over my weapons ? I've seen comments from various LEO's on this list, And I have an off topic question pertaining to Forensics I've got some training and experience in each of those subjects. I was wondering what input you could give me. I've read multiple books on the subject and researched multiple web resources. Just looking for some information from people in the know. Feel free to just email me, or even pass my adress on to someone who might be able to help me out. Thanks alot. Perhaps. I, too, have traveled with my sticks and have not had problems with the police in CA. But I have not given them reason to bother me either. I suspect that has a lot to do with it. If you are giving them a reason to bother you - -and- you have something that fits 12020 (in Calif) then they'll most likely use it. I would not want to face legal action for possession of a bo, escrima sticks, nunchaku, or any weapon used in my martial arts training. Is there a snow balls chance in h*ll that these laws can be overturned? Is it doable without a huge sum of cash and a major media blitz? Am I expecting too much to hope that common sense can prevail? As per the earlier posts, the LEOs seldom bother you (well, chuks can be a totally different matter) if you're not being an "AH" or a bad-guy. Sorry for the regrettably ambiguous phrasing-- my intended meaning was that the tapes themselves were not too exciting. The human eye and mind tend to zone out when the camera angle remains the same, the distance of the camera remains the same, the audio a monotone, the background homogenous, etc etc. Regardless of the merit of the content of a video, things like this tend to lull the viewer. No aspersion upon Mr. Advincula and his skills was meant. yip, Crafty ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Fri, 17 Sep 1999 11:03:54 -0700 (PDT) Subject: eskrima: . ------------------------------ End of Inayan_Eskrima/FMA-Digest V6 #397 **************************************** To unsubscribe from this digest, eskrima-digest, send the command: unsubscribe eskrima-digest -or- unsubscribe eskrima-digest your.old@address in the BODY of an email (top line, left justified) addressed to majordomo@hpwsrt.cup.hp.com.
