Someone posted that they know of a jow that contains apricot and peach pits as well as aconite. Well, the reason apricot and peach pits are incredibly bitter is because they contain potassium. Potassium cyanide that is. And I can't remember what, but it seems like there is something bad about aconite as well. One of the things I really have to work on when kali players come to my knife class is getting them past the idea of multible hits with a knife. Bad idea folks. I cannot tell you how ingrained the idea of slip and then slash slash slash is to most player's who come through my door. Thing is it is hard to convince a jury that you were in fear for your life when you slashed the dude fourteen times. You can get away with using a knife for self-defense, if you hit and move. In other words slip to the 45 and cut as you get the hell out of Dodge. One wound and running from a wounded attacker is easier to explain as self-defense than 10 cuts on a body and you standing over it." And I add: Yup, I cant really argue with you on this but there is also the situation where people don't know they are getting stabbed. How many times have you read or heard about people not feeling the knife but believing that they were just getting punched. They will continue to be a threat until they realise that they are in worse shape so multipole slashes could actually be a god send. Trying to tell the 12 blind men that may be tough though. That slash slash slash thing would be a neat trick but I doubt that I could pull it off outside the classroom. However, the furthest thing in your mind will be what some juror pulled out of their comfy office is going to think and the survival/fear factor will override. Even the relief of disarming someone usually and especially in my case, has led to a huge relief/anger factor requiring a heavy punishment beating regardless of who is around. Believe me I am the one who will be aware of police or security cameras and the possible consequences as I have suffered from their existence, but in situations such as this it isnt something you really dwell on. There are more basic principles in play. Yes in class we do the slash slash slash drills but we also work the pass and slash and move off drills. But when the proverbial hits the fan I hope that it will kick in and override the fear, panic and anger. The attacker better hope so too. pat ------------------------------ From: "Carlton H.
