And tigers wouldn't have claws, eagles wouldn't have talons, spiders would go venomless, and prey species wouldn't have teeth or even strength to defend against the above. Every living creature would be blissfully fat and happy by god's good grace. Ahhhhhhh, if only there were no strife... but there is... and I'll keep my teeth, thank you. And FYI, the purpose of a gun is not to kill, but to launch a projectile with a degree of control, like a bow, or a sling, or a big - shiny - rocket - ship. I'm sure you want to argue this, so I'll ask you first, how would YOU make an object go from here to there quickly with control (but not carrying it) even if the idea of killing something never entered your head?? This is not a smart-assed (unlike most of my post) question. I'm seriously wondering what sort of invention you can come up with. When I was a kid I made potato guns, and it wasn't to slay gruesome, evil potatoes. It was just for fun! In target and skeet/trap/sporting clays, the ORIGIN of the sport may have been to simulate the killing of game, but now, it's just a sport... a sport in which you launch a projectile or projectiles with control, no killing necessary (or even desired!). Have a happy, blissful, ecstatic day! :) <---(look, it's Patrick!) Drew BTW, Pat, you asked why people always were picking on you. It's because you make sweeping tell-all end-all statements and shoo-shoo anyone when they express a differing viewpoint. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Are the people who were hurt okay? Re:request for help I hope the gentleman can find someone to help Mr. Gotch. good wishes to you, sir. I recently posted on the silat list a request for any suggestions in dealing with the long term effects of a gunting, which was received accidentally during training. My classmate was struck exactly on the nerve on the inside of the arm at the crook of the elbow eight or nine months ago. She's had physio, is careful about using the arm etc and is doing all sensible things to help it heal, but on certain days it is worse than others. When she tries to rotate at the elbow (to a palm up position for ex.) it often hurts. Does anyone have any suggestions as to excercises etc. that might help? >GRAAAAAAAAABE!! Date: Thu, 02 Dec 1999 12:56:41 PST Subject: eskrima: The battle on sunday. Hi all, It's me Big Joe delurking after about a million years. First let me say thanks to Chad, Stuart, James, and the Boys out there in Hawaii. Meeting them on the field was one of the highlights of my trip out there. It was quite an experience for me. I had never before done any full contact fighting whatsoever. It really opened up my eyes as to why things are taught certain ways and what really works from what I have learned as well as just how little I actually know. Chad basically covered the whole event. There isn't much more to say about the actual happenings of the day. Let me just say in the experience that I have had it is my opinion that those three guys are some of the best fighters it has been my pleasure to meet. Not only were they good tacticians but also the kindest and most humble gentleman I have met. Unlike some others that I have met who spoke of nothing but politics these three gentlemen were open minded and spoke of nothing but technique and the arts. I must say that that was one of the best experiences I have had with another group of FMAist's. There was no ego involved and everyone left the field with a little more experience and hopefully a little bit wiser. I know I did. One of the most important things for me was that I learned how to deal with the adrenaline dump one feels when preparing for such an event. Oh I also learned to move a bit more and to watch those hand shots(thanks Chad). Well I will hopefully see you guys around. Stu or Chad Please give a copy of this to James. Peace and much respect to all. I had major leg and knee and hip surgery in Tampa back in 1989 and have nothing but great things to say about the doctor who did the work. I was last there for a check-up in '96 and things were still the same, although some of the other doctors on staff were different. Check out Dr. Murphy on S. Howard Avenue (Tampa), near Swann Ave. I can't remember the actual name of the clinic, something like Tampa Bay Orthopaedic. As for Medicare and that sort of thing, I can't tell you yes or no, only the quality of the doctor. The father did my work, and I have heard that his son has now come on staff and is continuing the practice. Give my regards to the doc and tell my sister hello- she is the office manager. You can't miss her, she's the one with the red hair like Maureen O'hara;-() Steve ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Thu, 2 Dec 1999 17:59:07 -0800 (PST) Subject: eskrima: . ------------------------------ End of Inayan_Eskrima/FMA-Digest V6 #499 **************************************** To unsubscribe from this digest, eskrima-digest, send the command: unsubscribe eskrima-digest -or- unsubscribe eskrima-digest your.old@address in the BODY of an email (top line, left justified) addressed to majordomo@hpwsrt.cup.hp.com.
