(BTW I believe the # of successful hand to hand experiences is closer to 200 than 100.) As several of us have mentioned on this list previously, he is a very special teacher. I just spoke with Dr. Gyi about an hour ago and will be coordinating with Steve Tarani to have him out here in May. At the moment we are discussing holding a camp wherein part of the training is at night concerning how to use a kukri at night in wartime conditions. Stay tuned! > From: "Peter A. He has written me telling of some articles (which he swears are in the mail on their way to me as we speak) and done a TV thing as well. Dago Dog is a orthopedic surgeon for some Italian soccer team, was savate fighter of considerable accomplishment (fought and beat noted French savate champion Robert Patural?) and was Italian WEKAF champion. When I get the articles, I will have them posted on our website in the foreign language section. Master Karin has a profile on the http://www.eskrima.demon.co.uk profiles page. It shows that he actually fought approximately four men and nearly died. His system was best summed up by Abner Pasa when my instructor Doug asked him to show him it, I'm paraphrasing Abner; 'It would only take me about ten hours to show you, but I can't guarantee it'll be as effective for you as it was for him' regards Paul ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Mon, 20 Dec 1999 14:17:13 -0800 (PST) Subject: eskrima: Inting Carin > How legends grow eh? Master Karin has a profile on the > http://www.eskrima.demon.co.uk profiles page. There is also mention of him in an article written by Kitty Canete about her father, Cacoy Canete. "It was a common thing in the neighborhood where my Dad lived to challenge the new kid in the block to a boxing bout. I heard this story first hand, being told to my family by the challenger himself, Mr. "Inting" Carin, who later became a friend and student of my Dad and is himself now a master in eskrima. At that time, Mr. Carin, the bully in the neighborhood, sent word to my Dad through a cousin that he would challenge my Dad to a boxing bout to "make him a man". He said he didn't like my father being so quiet and shy like a sissy. My father accepted the challenge. So the day came when they had to box. Mr. Carin said that the first blow that my father gave him was like a tornado hitting him. He immediately surrendered and asked my Dad if he had formal training in boxing. My Dad answered that he was a varsity player. Mr. Carin was very shocked."
