In Garimot System, Herada is represents the medium range of fighting, where the most common complicated situation. Herada to our vocabulary is in between, not to close not to far. Most of the position is 50/50 chance to hit or to get hit. Therefore student must learn the most effective techniques to answer every situation in the right angle and the most precise timing of offensive and defensive techniques. Alive hand is well used on this range. In regard to Batangueno word, meaning the style is Originated from the Province of Batanggas in Luzon. Also Batangueno is refering a male borm from the Batanggas area. Okey just my 2 cents on this one. It makes sense that a style for mass conflict/multiple opponents > would turn/spin a lot. Is this accurate, Yes, think oscillating fan. > And, what was the De > Salcedo conflict and what can you tell us about the testing of HB? In short the De Salcedo conflict, was an uprising organized by the local militia to rid the province of the dreaded Spanish Kasadores. Named the De Salcedo conflict after Juan de Salcedo who claimed to have "discovered" Batangas. The best fighters from Luzon and outlying areas were recruited for this skirmish, some coming from Cavite and others as far as Pangasinan and La Union. It is also said that they spent some three years in seclusion training for this. With regard to the effectiveness of the method itself, from their battle cry; ......"Lalahoy ang dugo sa laranganan ng digma!" (Let the blood flow in this field of battle!) it has certainly proven itself over time as some of the Hirada "basic" concepts have been retained and are still be found in many of todays Kabaroan/Escrima/Arnis systems. > Is the > sarwag an upward figure 8? The Sarwag is not a figure eight (otso de otso) but rather a basic opening move; upward slash/strike in Larga (using "lawlaw" footwork) the theory being to take out any incoming strike. It is said this movement/strike will put the fighter in an advantageous position, allowing the fighter to then follow up with any one of the original 33 striking patterns (De Estado Golpe). I hope this was of some help and perhaps Guro Inosanto can be of more assistance to you regarding this method. > > I would like to ask if "sarwag" would be called "one half on the X" ? > Primarily the low right to the upper outer left.(for right handed)? > Thanks > Barry Exactly. Yesterday morning at 5:30 am, my uncle was at the parking lot to the Board of Water Supply where he works when a guy asked him for a cigarette. My uncle gave him two, turned around to walk away and BANG, he got shot in the back. He survived and they took the bullet out of his spine, but they can't tell the damages yet because he is so drugged up. They know that he can't feel anything in his legs. Wonderful man, and one of the old timers that still know how to make things with his hands and he definitely did not deserve this. What kind of man deserves to be shot in the back? What kind of man does it? Friends on the post, please remember that the first step to self-defense is Awareness. Remember this guy asked my uncle for a cigarette, and my uncle gave him two. He was shot in the back for what reason??? I doubt it, but if anyone knows any information on the incident or shooter, please contact me privately. ===== "Draw me not without reason, sheath me not without honor" Chad Hawaii __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
