(i can't remember the other's name, but he's under inosanto). i don't have the number, but if you e-mail me privately, i'll remember to dig it up and send it to you. also, patty burkhalter (?) used to teach san miguel doce pares (under bisio, i think), but i don't know if she still does - the guys at apex would know. i don't know of any others in the other cities (i've looked in springfield, but maybe i've overlooked). good luck in your search. oh, and i think maybe someone teaches in union, and lebanon. (both on i-44) i don't remember who, but i'll try to dig those up too. incidentally, i think someone on this list maintains the fma instructors database at www.pikiti-tirsia.org, but i couldn't get it to work. tim ------------------------------ From: Taojen1@aol.com Date: Wed, 16 Feb 2000 17:45:15 EST Subject: eskrima: Re: Inayan_Eskrima/FMA-Digest V7 #82 In a message dated 2/16/00 3:53:50 PM Eastern Standard Time, eskrima-digest-owner@hpwsrt.cup.hp.com writes: << Anyone else wanna vote for their favorite fight scene in a film... >> Toshiro Mifune in Sanjuro (I think). One of the home invaders (my client swore it was not him) went to the door to ask if someone (made up name) lived there. He then pushed his way in and pulled a gun and told the person to get back. I'll consider your suggestions in training. As for the jokes, I'll drop one in some time. As for the way we lawyers twist things around ;-) I would never do that. LOL. I don't twist it around but I do try to get the judge or jury to look at it from another point of view. By the way on another subject. If a police officer asks, " Do you have any weapons?" and you say, "Yes", he is going to look for them. If you say "No" and he finds some, then he is going to be pissed and try to find something to hang you for. One response I have had suggested is to answer, "I have no illegal weapons." This way if the officer searches and finds something at least you have a defensible position. You told the officer that you had no illegal weapons, it is my "pocket knife", or the "gun is registered and I have a permit". Now if you have a gun and you do have a permit or are licensed, go ahead and tell him. Same is true if he is patting you down and putting you under arrest. One thing I really appreciate is honesty about one's teachers. Egan and Enson Inouye learned much of their grappling from Relson Gracie. Yet they credit either Sayama or the Machados (on Egan's video). I understand that their present relationship with Relson is not good, but this does not excuse dishonesty. The fact of the matter is that Shooto champions like Enson and Erik Paulson have BJJ as much as anything to thank for their domination of competitors who don't have that edge. - -end quote- Jerry, I've never seen the Inoue brothers say they didn't learn from Relson. If you have please tell me where. If they choose not to talk about what they learned from Relson, that is their choice, but it is not dishonesty. In fact, in the last "Grappling" magazine, Enson clearly states that he got his start in BJJ from Relson. I also recall seeing another interview where Enson credits much of his success to BJJ. Also, in response to your last sentence and the sentence where you say the Inoue's credit the Machados, don't the Machado's teach BJJ? You must be one of those big brained people I here about :-) I realize your teasing some what here, But this is a very true statement. I have had two instances in court for fighting, I never really had any problems, but I know you are right about things getting out of hand. From a business point of view I retain the meanest baddest Lawyer I can. In fact its my second rule of running a business. I had a situation a few years back when my old attorney died on me, which really pissed me off. Then I got into a situation with Uncle Sam and the new Lawyer I had was useless as a one legged man in an ass kicking contest. Remember the scene in the Untouchables where Robert DeNiro was slapping his Lawyer in court, well that was almost my situation. Now I am back with one of the biggest baddest MoFo's on the block. He's like a Champion Pit Bull, on steroids, with a bad cases of hemorrhoids, and man I sleep a lot better at night. So in a nut shell if can or do kick butt, make sure your Lawyer can kick butt, so you don't get it in the.......So best not to kick butt unless you really have too! I realize that if your not in business you may not retain a Lawyer, but its still a good idea to find out whose good and who's not. Its sad that the Law is the way it is, but that's life. You may beat the Mugger, but his Lawyer may take more from you than he would have.
