Legallity aside, how can any FMAer - practicing an art that keys in on adapting to the environment - say that with one weapon you would be committed to defending yourself but with another you wouldn't. In the moment, under the stress of a self defense situation (or someone in my family in the same peril), I would hope that I wouldn't hesitate to use what ever I had on hand - even if it were a gun that the attacker dropped and I got to it if I wasn't carrying one - which I don't on a normal basis. Personal weapon, or weaponless, preference aside, we train in an art of versitility. Would you hesitate to use your car as a self defense tool, if it were your best option? What other tools has anyone theorized about the ways of using as a self defense tool? So, the stores have taken to selling a very robust type of ice scraping brush. These are about 26 inches long, of molded skeletonized plastic, and have a very nice heft. In addition to that, the business end has a rather sharp PVC scraping blade on it. And then there's the bristlebrush. I'd really hate to get one of those across the face. These are nonlethal; aside from the bludgeon effect I'd think it would be pretty hard to permanently injure someone with them. In addition, who's going to even notice a couple of those in your car? Things have come to a pretty pass in this country, where we're thinking of ways of hiding weapons for self defense from the police. How bad is it going to get? How bad does it NEED to get before people like us start getting loud? It hasn't gotten to the point where you'd be dragged off by the bootheels at 4 AM for exercising your right to freedom of speech.
