More inportant would be who got to the center first. If it was set up the way you say it would be a sprint to the middle for the weapons. The one who loses the race more than likly loses the fight(hypo).Regardless if he grabs the bat or knife.(and knows how to capitalize). If i lost the sprint id jump out of the ring like a big chicken and go home a loser...;)..but at least id go home. If on the other hand it was a duel type senario,id opt for the bat.Just because of range.I still dont think it would be certain victory one way or the other. It could still go either way.Such are the fortunes of war.Either weapon in the right hands and the right enviroment could mean survival......or maybe not. Fighting spirit, would be more important. Maybe both of us would die. It would make for some intresting training. Im sure everyone else will have some great ideas. However, I would wield it by the fat end. When wielded this way, it is almost as maneuverable as a stick (of course, you have to have decent sized hands for this ... which I do). Here's the scenario: you're in a ring with an opponent and > in the middle lies a knife and a baseball bat. Which weapon would you go > for? I feel like I should put in the disclaimer that my choice is variable, depending on the shape, and size of the knife, but I would most likely go with the knife. Why? Some combination of luck, skill, and physical conditioning may make you able to get hit a few times with a bat, and still survive. In the above scenario, a decent hit with the knife, and you're nearly assured death ; just a matter of time. This is actually a good potential situation, though unrealistic, for FMAers to ponder. A good understanding of range, lots of explosive aggresiveness, a good checking hand, and the principle of defanging the snake could make you come out on top (alive), and possibly not even severely maimed. However, does the game change when the impact weapon is quicker and one-handed?
