Ron has definitely got one of the best knife work video series out there. As Tuhon McGrath also points out, there are certain things you also need to get from the sparring. Any that haven't checked out Baliki's tapes, should. He has nice body mechanics and produces an easy-to-learn process to work on strips. You also get to see the very beautiful Diana Lee Inosanto in action. Ron, you are a lucky man (with respect, of course.) What can you say about Tuhon McGrath? The man has superb body mechanics and is very fast on his footwork. ===== "Draw me not without reason, sheath me not without honor" Chad Hawaii __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I have the "Defensive Edge Vol. 1" tape from Guro Balicki, and as an adjunct to the training from my Sifu, have found it extremely informative and easy to follow. The explanations of the various techniques are comprehensive yet understandable to someone like myself who has only been studying for a relatively short time. Also, the demonstrations are done slowly enough so that I can actually follow what is being done :) I'm just waiting to be able to afford the next ones! Hound Dog also said: >Both Tuhon and Guro Ron are pure class. Ron Balicki has been especially >helpful to me when I recently considered getting out of martial arts due to >all the back stabbing there is. Guro Ron has motivated me to the point where >my school is now doing better, I am competing in BJJ and have attracted >sponsors, and I am bringing my stickfighting back up to my standards. While I don't personally know these two teachers (except a little from the list), I must say that their comments and information are extremely helpful and positive. I don't know much about MA politics, but assume that it can be just as insidious and negative as in any other human endeavor, and prefer not to get involved. Pride in one's achievements/style/etc is one thing, but boosting one's self by denigrating others is just not right. I'd rather just learn as much as I can, and also have great respect for those choose to stay away from backbiting and let their actions and character speak louder than words. just opinion, :) jocelyne ps.
