You've got me confused now. Do you think logically or not?? I'm going to assume for giggles that you were playing the devil's advocate. Actually I was trying to explain the thought process of the charming little guy you are going to meet in a deserted parking lot. He's taken a well-known nuerosis and put some really nasty edges on it. How I think is even a mystery to me. >Who is John Bradshaw and what is "shame based personality"? In light of the fact that he has several psychology books and is all over the web, I'll let you figure out the first. What I will comment on however, is that his works have been well taken and abused by the Pop psychology groupies, who tend to revel in his assessment of the problem and skip the fact that the idea is to get away from it defining your life. I beleive he came up with the term "dysfunctional" which so many people took and ran with happily chanting that their family dysfunction was why their lives were messed up. Which is kind of pathetic because that "I have no responsibility for my behavior" attitude is exactly what he was trying warn against as a very dangerous and damaging philosophy. As to a "Shame based" personality a thumbnail summation is it is someone who can neither take blame or responsibility for their actions. To such a person guilt is a crushing emotional element, but that doesn't stop them from acting in a selfish, and often sociopathic manner. What it does cause them to do is "Blame" others when things don't work out. (i.e. the gang banger attitude of it was your fault for getting in the way of the bullet he meant for someone else) >What were the desired actions that you brought forth in us all? Hopefully an FYI, but obviously it didn't work in at least one case. >Have you ever run for political office? Nah, I'll just stick to being a thug...that way I can still look at myself in the mirror in the morning. >Last, but not least. You need to clean up your neighborhood. Unless you take no blame in your apathy. >> :D:D:D:D thank you I needed a good laugh :D :D:D:D Do your homework... A) I used to be part of the problem B) I held the line to keep the scum de la scum in check for many years C) I am out every day teaching and writing to help people understand the problem and figure out viable solutions D) while I do teach regular martial arts, my area of expertize is for those who are in 'hot' situations and professions -- there ain't no "if I ever had to use this, I'd... with the people I specialize in and E) until you have had as many people come up to you as I have and say to your"I want to thank you for saving my life with what you taught me" don't sit at your nice safe keyboard and get snarky with me. It's deeds, not words that count.
