I thinks it's more of a football technique. A friend of mine got punched in the stomach, and as he doubled over, he dropped into a 3-point stance, then exploding out of it, slamming the guy with his shoulder. The attacker was stunned and knocked off his feet, allowing my friend to beat feet.
