I apologize, work took a lot more of my time then I had anticipated. I'll be back down in January again though. Also a very out side chance I'll be down that way this summer. The chin is a great tool in the grappling range. Also good to use on the scapula, where the top of the neck meets the back of the skull, under the ear at the hinge of the jaw bone. He already visited the local jujitsu school and met the woman there who runs it like the dojo of the 60s -- you know, out of touch with today's reality. My student is well-rounded combatively from handguns to knife work to traditional arts. Any good referrals for any challenging training will be greatly appreciated. When he started the warming up with a lot of fancy arco stuff I was afraid it was going to be disappointing, but it turned out other wise. After half an hour warm up we did about 1,5 hours 1 (and 2) stick technics, an hour of espada y daga and an hour of empty hand, so you can see there was something for everyone. He took the time to explain everything to evereone and he was real polite and friendly At the end he demonstarted a few forms, looked kinda careless in the beginning but still it was great to see. Well, just wanted to share this with you ;-) Greetings, Ruud ------------------------------ From: "Michael Koblic" Date: Sun, 2 Apr 2000 15:09:02 -0700 Subject: eskrima: Body weapons If anyone has any doubt what a shoulder can do watch replay of Edmonton-Phoenix game (yesterday). Dallas Drake hit Deveroux under the chin with his shoulder (a clean hit, unlike some that have been discussed here). I do not think he was going particularly fast either. Deveroux was out before he hit the ice and stayed out for quite a while - looked like grade 3 concussion from where I saw it but that is just a semi-educated guess. I have personally witnessed people incapacitated by a hit on the side of the head by a shoulder of a charging ball carrier in rugby games (not necessarily knocked out but lost all interest in the game for a while :-)) Miek Koblic, Quesnel BC ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Sun, 2 Apr 2000 15:55:31 -0700 (PDT) Subject: [none] ------------------------------ End of Inayan_Eskrima/FMA-Digest V7 #162 **************************************** To unsubscribe from the eskrima-digest send the command: unsubscribe eskrima-digest -or- unsubscribe eskrima-digest your.old@address in the BODY of an email (top line, left justified) addressed to majordomo@hpwsrt.cup.hp.com.
