Prof. Presas was in Buffalo NY for 4 days last month and we talked about alot of things and one of which were who the Datus are. After he gave me the list I asked about Jeff because I heard that he was one. The Prof told me that Jeff is a good instructor, a good man, and a friend, but not a Datu. I thought we put an end to this last fall on the last discussion of datus, but I guess we'll have to clarify this one more time. My name is Tim Hartman and I am the Can Am director for Remy Presas' International Modern Arnis Federation. There are four datus in the federation: Shishir, Kelly Worden, Rick Journales and Dieter K. Professor Presas was in Buffalo April 27th through May 1st and we discussed the topic of datu, as I did with him last summer. The reason why we discussed this was that Kelly Worden called to congratulate me on my promotion of Datu. For those who remember my initial post on datus when professor offered it to me this summer, I turned it down because I had too many things on my plate at that time. So when Kelly called me, I was a little confused. Profesor and I had a small coversation about the matter, and he did make the promotion, but forgot that I had turned it down, because I did not feel ready. I had also heard the rumor that Jeff Delaney was promoted to Datu. He had told me that this was not the fact, but Jeff is a part of the senior board members, which may have been where the confusion was. I will be seeing the professor the first weekend in June at his Texas summer camp and I will show him a copy of the digest on this topic. In the meantime I am boarding a plane in an hour for Sweden to be a guest instructor at the Parker's Kenpo Karate Camp, so I will be gone until June 5th. If there are any other questions, feel free to send them to me and when I am back in town I will address them. I have a little exposure to Sayoc Kali and am getting more, and am very interested what your impressions are about the Sayoc system. I would guess (I'm really very sure) that you have a a bit more experience with other Martial arts than I do, and would like to hear your thoughts on it. I think that the teaching methods as well as the system itself is impressive, I wish I ahd found it 10 years ago. Sean __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
