In England a wheelchair is for people who can't walk, a babycarriage is normally called a pram over here. The Inayan System of Eskrima is a perfect illustration of what I mean. Dizon taught Grand Master Cabales who taught Suro Inay. The style has evolved from Dizon's De Cuerdas, to Cabales Serrada Eskrima, to a cornerstone of the Inayan System of Eskrima as it migrated from the Philippines to the US and around the world. The style was changing, metamorphosing really, even while it was still entirely in the Philippines. It continues to evolve today wherever Suro leads it. But, I think as long as respect for the heritage is kept alive, as it is in the Inayan System of Eskrima today, as long as new students are shown the bridge back to the Philippines, it will continue to be a Filipino Martial Art. And as long as the new fusion styles pay homage to their FMA heritage, I think they are FMA as well. Just want to let those of you who live in or near the Monterey area that there will be a 7th Annual Filipino Festival this Fri. & Saturday at the Custom House Plaza next to the Doubletree Inn. There will be alot of food concessions and entertainment. There will be a martial arts demo at 2:30 on Saturday.
