These meetings are open to the public. All experience levels from instructors to intermediate to “never done this before” are welcome. Look at this as “extra” practice time meant for people looking to explore and learn. No classes will be taught, just a bunch of guys getting together to train with each other. Beginners are encouraged to watch and learn also. The purpose of this training and discussion group is to have individuals of all different levels and styles or arts get together to train with each other in the hopes of bettering ourselves and others. This is a chance to get exposed to various types of energy when practicing with different people. The group might all “take a class” from a certain individual one day, and split into three different groups the next day. The goal is to have everyone meet new people so that everyone can become better. This is not a class. There are no fees. All levels and styles are welcome. ONE RULE: NO BAD ATTITUDES. LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO BETTER THEMSELVES, NOT PEOPLE THAT WANT TO BE BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE. Hope to see you out there. Just to clarify before any spends their hard-earned cash on this book, it has nothing to do with the Villabrille Kali aspects of Tobosa's art. I am acquainted with the author of the book. This book is the result of some notes left by ``Batikan'' Raymond Tobosa, combined with pictures posed by Donald Mendoza and some of his students. - --== Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ ==-- Before you buy. ------------------------------ From: Chad Date: Fri, 30 Jun 2000 19:10:32 -0700 (PDT) Subject: eskrima: This and That I was just watching a tape someone lent to me with Burmese vs. Thai fighters in a bareknuckle Muay Thai rule fight, and was thinking the same thing. I am under the impression that the Burmese were respected for their hands and Thais were respected for their feet, and it appeared that way in the fights. Great sportsmanship from both countries, I was impressed. I was wondering though, about the use of limb destruction(elbows to hands, forearms, shins) in Burmese boxing and the lack of use I saw in the fight. I’ll admit that is always easy to stand outside and say so and so, but I think with the very basics of limb destructions, the Burmese fighters would have had the advantage. It takes a lot of you-know-what to stand toe-to-toe like they did, and it seemed to me that with the same bravado, they could have stood and absorbed hooks and kicks with their elbows. The Thais had the kicking game down, and even carry their own version of limb destruction with their kick counters, which they used very nicely in the rounds. Nice article written by Crafty in the Masters of Combat, and there is also a story about that NHB event that he mentioned in his last post. Patrick, I’ll sign yours if you sign mine.;) Actually, since switching web hosts, our guestbook has been deleted, so we are now down to two, if your post was erased, your welcome to come back and sign, thanks. Message board is up, and can be used to post for training partners in your area, instructions are up on the page. T-shirts should be shipped out by the 7th. ===== Chad chad@fullcontacthi.com Full Contact Stickfighting Hawaii http://www.fullcontacthi.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
