I have no FMA experience and due to current dependencies I can't attend classes, but hopefully early next year. If you find the information, perhaps you can post the information on this list. Here is the business information where I heard about Dan Inosanto coming to the St. Louis, MO area. My thanks to Will Widmeyer and Kongsul Hapkido Assoc, and Indiana Pencak Silat Mande Muda group, and most and importantly GM Dr. Maung Gyi for his time and awsome UN peacekeeping baton techniques he shared with us. I learnt a great deal from this seminar as it was my first time attending a seminar with GM Gyi, I had a chance to get some 1 on 1 time with him talking about his pictures and his past in the war and as a UNSPSF and I found him just awesome to listen to. He made everything so clear and actually I always knew the men and women who serve for our country we owe a great deal of respect for.. and this seminar made me realize it that much more. And myself of having served 3 yrs in the Army and 5 in the National Guard It hit home. I had a chance to meet new people and I know if I ever get another chance to attend a seminar with Dr. Gyi again in the future I will definitly attend. If any of you have not had the opportunity to meet and train with Dr. Gyi you are missing a Legendary part of our history.... Those of you who have actually had the opportunity to talk with him and share his stories know what I mean. ------------------------------ From: Stickfighter27@cs.com Date: Wed, 5 Jul 2000 00:11:56 EDT Subject: eskrima: Panandata instructors I read your article on the listed instructors of Pananadata, I would like to if you have any information on this one Guro Ralph White? I would like to contact and set something up Please any info email stickfighter27@cs.com ------------------------------ From: "Tom Skoglind" Date: Wed, 5 Jul 2000 12:57:06 -0500 Subject: eskrima: firing sticks It's not the "traditional" way, but I just use a hand held butane blow torch. They are inexpensive and easy to use and control. Better to err on the side of undercooking - you can always fire it more, but you can't really un-char it if you go too far. Have fun! >>>> Hello! Is there anybody on the list who can tell me how to fire harden my sticks? I've heard a lot about treating rattansticks with fire makes them harder. Is there any special way to do this- does anybody know how the old Escrimadores did it?
