Should I go with a street hockey style helmet, a fencing mask, or something else? Also, can anyone provide some inexpensive sources for head protection?" I recommend a heavy saber mask for my students. Try http://www.santelli.com/ for this type of mask or http://www.bloodsport.com/product.htm for regular weight fencing masks. Could anyone on this list give me more details on them. Check out my website: http://www.geocities.com/eartes/KBS_System_index.html Look in the history section and there is some info about them, including names, names of wives and where they settled in the Philippines. Unfortunately, not much is known about them before they went to the Philippines. In addition, I recently heard that some researchers now claim that the Datus from Borneo were a myth, that they didn't actually exist, but I haven't seen any schlorly work to back it up yet. The quality is as good >if not better than Edges2 in my opinion, and less expensive. I used to train with Ray in Sayoc kali years ago, and he was one of the guys in our full-contact group as well. Then he was making his knives just for himself and his friends, and the quality was better than anything we could find on the market. I'm sure they haven't changed since then. He's a nice guy besides. Anyone interested in training knives should check him out. Should I go with a street hockey style helmet, a fencing mask, or something else? Also, can anyone provide some inexpensive sources for head protection? I thought about a streethockey helmet as head protection at first but after talking to some people i was'nt sure that was the best thing. if the helmet has a cage there is the chace the butt of the stick could find its way through the cage. which would'nt be good and i'm not sure how well the plastic shields would hold up. If you try it i'd like to know how it works out.
