I have a question or two about Arinis/Kali that will perhaps fulfill Terry's wish of getting back to disscusions on Escrima.Hopfully the questions will breed discussion and not arguing. One of the things that is taught in just about every Fillipino MA class that i have ever seen is the concept that the FMA's were quick to evolve and adapt down through the centuries. This is one of the things that drew me to them. My questions are: Are Fillipino martial arts still evolving and adapting? If not, could you please explain why? If they are, please point out where. A follow up question would be this: Is the evolution of the FMA's restricted to the geographical region(the Phillipines)?? Or does the contribution of individuals outside the heritage of the Phillipines count as worthy part of that evolution? For example the American influence?(not to mention every other country) How would this evolution be assimilated into the historical version? or can it? I think these questions open up a big can of worms. I really look forward to hearing what everyone says. Evidently you will be building up your courage during a defense seminar, then taking to the streets in a drunken rampage dressed like a bunch of wanna be freaks." Quote Ends Yikes, not exactly more "Eskrima and fewer arguments and ads" as our moderator requested. In the spirit of that request I'll be succinct and note that, be it Halloween, Mardi Gras, bikers on a poker run, or tailgaters at a football game, folks in all cultures find a lot of reasons to whoop it up and dress funny. At least no one is dusting off polyester leisure suits and dancing to disco. Now that would be truly scary. He was a Muay Thai instructor for 15 years when he came down with a tumor on his spine up by his neck. Removing the tumor paralyzed him and put him in a wheel chair. The doctors said he probably wouldn't walk again. Well, those same doctors are holding Mike up, not as a success story, but as a miracle. He's walking with a cane, training fighters, teaching Krabi-Krabong and shadow boxing. He even hit the Thai pads a little bit for the first time the other day. The man has an irrepressible attitude that he is going to get better and kick again. (By the way, watch out because Mike's cane has a big stilletto right where he can get at it.) I have no idea whether a similar thing would work for you. In fact, I'd be worried about over-stressing you without knowing a lot more about your situation. But I can tell you this: A great attitude and a warrior's determination can make a huge difference in recovering from a serious injury. So, as we say, keep your hands up. So now I'm also wondering how Vincent Cabales obtained the title of Grandmaster. Anyone with any info ? I understand that he is Angel's son, but I'm assuming he had to have met other standards to have received that title. Does anyone have any info on this ? As for the Mark Wiley matter, I'd still like any info as to where I could find any firsthand footage. Maybe it's just me, but I don't want to make assumptions based on second-hand info. GM Vincent is the acknowledged head of Cabales Serrada Escrima. This was Angel's wish, which he publically expressed, and is accepted by all those that honor Angel and his art of Cabales Serrada Escrima.
