I haven't been keeping up with the Digest lately, but I was under the assumption that author/Master Mark Wiley's latest book release was a continuation of the work from his "Filipino Martial Culture" to be released this month??? I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Wiley during his source & info gathering meetings for "Filipino Martial Culture" when he came to CA to interview & train with GM Ramiro Estalilla. He was very forthcoming & sincere to me about his P.I. experiences especially with the Illustrisimo players. You can see the respect he had for their abilities by his reference to them in his book and had nothing but the highest of respect & praise for the late GM Illustrisimo. To "hear" about how the Lakays or elderly Manongs are able to handle themselves at an advanced age is one thing, but to physicaly taste & be "played & toyed with" by the likes of GM Illustrisimo or a GM Ciriaco Canete is inspiring & acts as a catalyst that drives us youngins' to our voracious knowledge appetite. Dallas question: just came back from Dallas 3 weeks ago. Rick Fowler's Kenpo Karate is located in Irving (Las Colinas) @ 5443 N. MacArthur ph: 972- 753-0002. Sifu Fowler teaches Ed Parker's Kenpo, FMA (Inosanto Blend), & Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Fate has it that I was on a business trip & his school was located accross from my Hotel (In all honesty, I did not make my own reservations or accomodations, really)! I missed the Sat. Seminar on Kali empty hands, but I wish to thank the asst. Instructor Ms. Steele for her graciousness & professionalism during my brief visit. GM Estalilla recommended me to visit GM Guadiosa Ruby, but yes Texas is big & unfortunately my stay was short & not purely pleaure related. It's fine to interpret the law but that doesn't matter because it is a judge (or jury) that will be interpreting the law for you. Yes, we all see folders as legal, but if witness' see you flipping it out, perhaps the justice system could interpret the weapon to fall under the classifications in which Ray posted. So to keep this FMA'd... Even in fighting, we can control and handle the truth as it stands for ourselves, but we must also remember that the truth as it stands for other things(your opponent, wet ground, etc.) is a whole other issue to deal with. Part of his truth is making sure your truth doesn't work. ===== Chad chad@fullcontacthi.com Full Contact Stickfighting Hawaii http://www.fullcontacthi.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? A Howl etc: Those of you on either end of shipping videos to Australia may be interested in the following: Yip, Crafty Dog - ----------------------------------------------------- I don't know if you remember this saga (see below), but the tapes arrived the other day, after 20 months! , , , All I can say is it was worth the wait.... I'm blown away by the instruction, the realism and the attitude. Real training begins...so thanks! - ------------------------ Cindy, | Mystery solved! The good news is that the parcel did arrive in Brisbane. The bad news is that it was seized by Customs due to "the possibility that it contains objectionable material." I received a letter today (27th Nov) from Australian Customs saying that they have sent the videos to the Office of Film and Literature Classification for an opinion as to whether my innocent little eyes can handle the contents, or whether Customs should confiscate the videos to maintain the moral integrity of the country. Anyway that's the story so far, I guess all I can do is keep my fingers crossed. So thanks for your help, and pass on this info to the boys, they might get a laugh out of it! cheers, Trent Smith ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Wed, 09 Aug 2000 10:37:29 PDT Subject: eskrima: . ------------------------------ End of Inayan_Eskrima/FMA-Digest V7 #386 **************************************** To unsubscribe from the eskrima-digest send the command: unsubscribe eskrima-digest -or- unsubscribe eskrima-digest your.old@address in the BODY of an email (top line, left justified) addressed to majordomo@hpwsrt.cup.hp.com.
