Thanks but nope, Tian Shan it is, as in "Celestial Mountains". Tian Shan (and Tian Shan Pai) come from Northern China near the Sino-Soviet border. Tian Shan Pai, like Fu Jow Pai, Ying Jow Pai, Lama Pai, etc., is a combat-oriented school. The late Grandmaster Wang Jiu-Jen was involved in Mao's war before going to Taiwan. He passed the "robe and bowl" of the system to Liang who's now in Towson, Maryland. We have a "school anthem" called "All Red the River" with form practiced by instructors which commemorates some great battle during which some river flowed red with blood from the fight. 'Nuff, this ain't FMA :-) Mitakyoase, Mik ____________________________________________________________________ Get your own FREE, personal Netscape WebMail account today at http://webmail.netscape.com. ------------------------------ From: SReiter000@aol.com Date: Fri, 11 Aug 2000 11:54:28 EDT Subject: eskrima: Re: Inayan_Eskrima/FMA-Digest V7 #390 In a message dated 8/11/00 6:20:53 AM Pacific Daylight Time, eskrima-digest-owner@hpwsrt.cup.hp.com writes: << in CA at least you have one defining law. I am currently pushing for a Full Contact Stickfighting Forum at http://defend.net/deluxeforums/index.php (is this bad etiquette, Ray? If so, than I apologize, E-D is still my favorite!!!) . Anyway it is a forum based on stickfighting-in the sense of how DB does it. Minimal gear, one on one, tap sticks, etc. If interested please visit the above web site and go all the way down to the Help section or click on http://defend.net/deluxeforums/forumdisplay.php?forumid=9 if you are already a member of the list there. I'd like to see Top, Crafty, Salty, Kalani, Will Beech, Hound, BJ, of course, Stuart, and the other fighters at least show support there if they are interested as well. This is not a "fighters only", it will be open to the public and those interested in full(real) contact stickfighting. This is what I posted there: "I am interested in starting a Full Contact Stickfighting Forum. Not too much politics, not too much history, but more so a place where those who do it like that can talk about it and those that are contemplating can ask some questions to those that do it. I know it is very hard to convince someone to come out and play, maybe this way we can ease the feeling about it. A place to talk about developing fighting application with the stick or non-bladed weapons." Anyone interested should post reply to my thread in the help section so that maybe we can get one started up. ===== Chad chad@fullcontacthi.com Full Contact Stickfighting Hawaii http://www.fullcontacthi.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
