I consider myself very fortunate just to be able to lurk and observe the dialogue on the digest let alone to be heard and responded to. As I explained to my wife "who is a baseball fanatic" this is the equivalent to listening to say Hank Aaron, Yogi Berra. Joe DiMaggio, Roy Campanella, Willie Mays, and Leon Day talk about baseball and then throw you a ball. Thank you all. Also his DUX-KYU style ninjitsu, are its methods alright? Tom Meadows >> hi tom - while i respect you and your talenants and knowledge (and you gave me a cracker for my whip at the I academy last time you were in town) - i think your off on this one for 2 reasons - 1) when i first started fma - it was because i wanted to learn cane techs, since at the time i walked with a cane alot. i started taking privates with ron balicki and if memory serves me he told me it was lacoste' because he walked with a cane - i also believe the canes in dan's office were john lacostes' and 2) la cane is not a cane, but rather a little longer stick then a fma baston, which tapper's a little at one end. next time your at the academy there is a la cane stick hanging on the wall right by salems boxing gloves and all the pictues of him. ps. i still want the number of the guy who made that 4 foot kangaroo whip you let me play with steve ------------------------------ From: "Phil Tong" Date: Tue, 15 Aug 2000 17:56:49 -0700 Subject: eskrima: water break! Great subject. I train hard and as the littlest in the class don't have much in the way of reserves. So I been following the Cytomax program ("pre-training, pre-event,high-endurance meal replacement") during workout. "The world's first breakthrough, all out, endurance pre-workout, pre-event meal that tastes great (ahem), digest easily and is ready to fuel your high energy, high intensity, long duration workouts." "High performance athletes like you who train and participate in high intensity, long duration workouts and events need specific kinds of fuel, in the right amounts and at the right times. Over the years, we have heard the shared concerns of endurance athletes... "will it bloat me?" "will it slow me down?", or "I don't like to startmy workout (event) with that uneasy feeling of something heavy in my stomach". Up until now, many endurance athletes have chosen to start their day with primarliy high carbo meal or energy drink, or even worse, nothing at all. Recently more and more reasearch confirms the need for more protein to stabilize and sustain peak energy levels and bein ghe recovery process while your actually training or participating in your event." "Cytomax Pre-Formance provides the "body preferred" ratios of carbohydrate and protein intake, which is critical to prevent the "perceived fatigue" that accompanies high carbo intake alone. Laboratory research indicates the heightened report of fatigue after ingestion of high carbo, low protein supplements. Carbs stimulate the release of insulin, which moves sugar out of the blood, resulting in low blood sugar during excercise." on and on it goes, closing with: "To replenish minerals and fluids lost through normal perspiration and to provide the body with a continuous complex carbo source, begin drinking Cytomax 15-30 min's into excercise consuming about 5oz. every 15 minutes." So that's my secret it ain't just water in my bottle. Also my diet during the day sucks so I try to at least blend up a banana, milk, ice and this other protein powder stuff and take a multi-vitamin. I know I couldn't add enough calories by eating to add muscle since I just can't eat more sometimes but that is my problem. Water is good stuff, I'm thirsty now! On workout days I think I go through half a gallon! :) Phil ps. now in the gym's formal "stick" class starting sept.5 whoo hoo! ------------------------------ From: "BILL MCGRATH" Date: Tue, 15 Aug 2000 22:58:10 -0400 Subject: eskrima: Kali in UK?
