The idea of fighting >is to HIT the opponent, period. Trapping is simply barrier removal just as if >you need your boots but they are behind your tennis shoes either reach over >or remove the tennis shoes to get your boots. All we do with a trap is clear >our way to our primary objective which is to hit and inflict damage on our >opponent. Fma just, in my opinion, provides a superior way of doing so. I disagree; that's too simplified. A trap can lead into a throw, a break, a joint lock, a disarm, a choke, a deflection into some obstacle in the environment; it could be creating an opening to run away, handcuff one wrist, etc. I agree the trap itself isn't enough, but the primary objective isn't always to inflict damage. Destroying the opponent's will to fight is better. David N. Since if count how many hits each side get, then we no need to study so many technqiues, just stand there and try to hit each other as many as we can. Furthermore, I have seen many sparrings in real and as well as movie clips from the internet, it seems there is no way to completely avoid being hit by other party, even through you are a very good fighter. As a result, what is the best way to find out who fought better in a sparring situations ?" ...in response ... who is able to respond with a second strike?.. he probably "won" the exchange.. as for a prolonged fight .. who "won" implies a tournament situation... you basically look at who who controls the fight, has better defense and cleaner stronger hits, you don't want to try to count strikes at all... in a "gathering" setting .. who won or lost depends on a few factors.. you could "lose",get tapped out by a much more experienced fighter, but as far as you improving, you may have "won".. the goals could be very different.. hope this helps! _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
