Tuhon Sayoc is also having a whip seminar in a few weeks(Mr. Woodward was a student of his, as listed in his credits) and should be coming out with a video on the whip after the seminar. Survival Training Hi, Just wanted to give you guys a heads up that we're now offering instructional videos on www.trainingblades.com . We recently received the okay to release Guro Don Garon's L.E.C. Survival Training Knife Defense Vol. 1. This video covers no-nonsense fundimental knife defense concepts, and is targeted specifically for law enforcement. This tape is great, real "bread and butter" principles that you could utilize right away! Even after having a few drinks, the man could whip out flames on a candle held by (I think it was his son) while blindfolded. " I have videos of three different demos of Snookie Sanchez putting out candles while blindfolded and they are impressive in many ways. The funny thing for me is that while I liked certain aspects of his whip work, I was even more impressed with his Kali and the fact that he was in exceptional physical condition, which many of us, myself included, should give more thought to. For those who don't know, Snookie Sanchez died about two years ago from a heart attack at the age of 58, and like Chad, everyone that trained with him has had nothing but good things to say about him. tom ------------------------------ From: "Tom Meadows" Date: Mon, 18 Sep 2000 12:29:19 -0700 Subject: eskrima: Whip videos David Elkins asked about whip videos. Tuhon Chris Sayoc recently sent me a copy of the Steven Woodward video and I found it to be an excellent presentation of whip techniques. It is available through Black and Blue productions (1-800-711-9403 and uvmaster@highway1.com ) . There are some very good basic whip technique videos available through the Western Whip arts group and I would start at Mark Allen's website.. Ron Balicki's Point Man Productions (310-530-6753 and www.marsystems.com) offers some excellent videos from Anthony DeLongis who I consider one of the top whip stylists in the world. Ron and I are currently working on a video of my own material. I have found very little text on the combative whip. GM Marinas has written an article on the Latiko (Filipino Horsewhip) and I believe the text is available on his website.
