If so why dont we hear more about the Spanish whip? It seems that if we understood the Spanish whip more we would understand the Fillipino whip more. Any comments? Topics covered included Buno wrestling, 4 different types of Hilot, Luvid (Rope techniques), and Moro-Moro sinawali. Gat Puno Abon will be coming out with books and videos in the future on this material. In addition, Maha Guro Nate Defensor taught elements of Villabrille numerado, Seguidas and 64 attacks of Pekiti-Tirsia. We also played reaction sharpening games such as Running the Gauntlet, War, and Capture the Flag FMA style. Thanks to all the instructors and participants in this retreat. ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Tue, 19 Sep 2000 7:08:09 PDT Subject: eskrima: Ozlympics Judo // Empty-handed Jimmy Pedro, a 1996 Olympic bronze medalist and the reigning men's lightweight (73kg/161 lbs.) world champion, planned to retire as the first American judoka to win gold in Games history. There is an Inosanto/Gotch/Suwanda/Largusa/Sirisute/Assli trained instructor in your area by the name of Guy Chase over at the Japantown YMCA. That's probably about 10 minutes away, no? I think his class is on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:00 PM. I'm sure there are other instructors in the area, and I would definitely encourage you to check out the local scene. But I give Guy two thumbs up both for his skill as a martial artists and his character as a person.
