I was wondering if anyone can recommend anyone to train with in Manila. I will only be there for a few days, but I was particularly interested in looking up Porferio Lanada. Does anyone have a contact for him, or recommend anyone else? Can anyone tell me about the FMA scene and the Filipino community in the area? Thanks in advance. If you basically stay cool and unobtrusive, you can get by with packing almost anything. The real problem, as I see it, is this. Should you be forced to use your knife to defend yourself then you are in a bind. Sort of ironic isn't it, like a friend of mine that's a Louisiana State policeman said once, the only time its illegal to carry anything is when you use it and are discovered. We each have to do as we see fit but Jeff Copper said it best "Better tried by 12 than carried by 6." And have deep pockets.. I recently spoke with an assistant in a shop in Newcastle (North East England) who told me that there are laws covering guns and knives, but the ASp/collapsible baton is legal. The police carry them, so can the public. As Jon Broster pointed out, as long as you are white, you'll probably be left alone. Unless the police take a dislike to your face, which can happen the world over, right? I'm hoping to get one for Christmas, so I'll quiz the guy about the specific laws involved.
