I think most will agree, if couched in the right terms and context it is a positive attribute that employers see as an ability to deal with stress and various situations. I believe when martial arts and ones involvement is presented as a way of life it takes on a different, very positive, meaning. Leave the information in, I think it helps. That's my cut. I did not habe a clue about what to do oin this job before i applied there, but the boss said, that he was impressed with the energy I put in my martial arts and what I have achieved there, so that he thinks whith this energy I can handle the job. He definitively had never done martial arts nor did he have any more or closer contact with martial artists. Just one more example, hoe martial arts can help. > But do not list anything like: > "Supreme Datu Mahau Guro of the Loyal order of the Royal Water Buffallo of > Kuntaw-kali-Escrimia- Fillipino Martial Arts" Listing something like this > will only get you designated a nut case and get your resume put in file #13. > :-) No joke: I saw a few days ago an advertising of a Ving Tsun man and he described himself as: World Chief Instructor, Sigung, Sifu Master Biro Özden. So I was wondering if there were any Arnis/Kali/eskrima and Silat/Kuntao/Kuntaw schools in the area that would be willing to have a visitor to stop by their respective schools. I haven't touched base/or visited with many of the FMA/INDO martial arts community on the mainland since the mid 80's and would like to meet fellow practitioners of our arts. I am not looking for any challenges or fights, I just want to meet fellow practitioners of the arts we practice. If this request is out of place, I apologize for wasting your time and bandwidth. I am just wanting to meet fellow practitioners and talk shop. I appreciate any and all information that you might share with me. Why is it that people in the "martial arts" get away with this kind of thing. Surely it counts as obtaining goods by miss representation or some kind of fraud. What was this guys plan and how did he think he could get away with it? It's amazing that more people do not get bashed up. As an ex soldier I often tell war stories which have me being braver each time I tell them however I recently went to a friends house for a party and by coincidence one of my training partners was there. I noticed him talking to some guy, with a mild look of amusement on his face. Any way when I caught up with him later on, he told me he was talking to a local TKD instructor. My friend did not let on he was in the arts and this guy fed him a story along the lines that the UFC wanted him to take part in a show but after he sent in a tape he was turned down because he may just kill someone with a spinning back fist etc etc. The same guy has a very long title grand ultimate etc (actually the only word that's left out is idiot) and has posters that start "destroy anyone etc" At the time it was a bit of a laugh and nothing was said. How ever I found out last night he said some rather nasty things about eskrima and the Dog Brothers (ouch). My name came up but I am mature enough to deal with that, plus I do not think I look like a gay child molester any way. Question: What would you do in this situation. Question: Do you think it has any thing to do with me any way (maybe I should mind my own business and get on with some training). Just to point out I not perfect myself but I am honest. He tried to tell me that he was a historian appointed by Paula Inosanto for all of Guro Dan's film footage. Somehow he had gotten phone numbers students and friends of mine across the country and was very persistent about them sending him videos. > > Ron Balicki ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Fri, 12 Jan 2001 8:27:30 PST Subject: eskrima: . ------------------------------ End of Inayan_Eskrima/FMA-Digest V8 #20 *************************************** To unsubscribe from the eskrima-digest send the command: unsubscribe eskrima-digest -or- unsubscribe eskrima-digest your.old@address in the BODY of an email (top line, left justified) addressed to majordomo@hpwsrt.cup.hp.com.
