Not merely possession, but for distribution. Generally speaking, merely having an once of marijuana is not going to land you in the big house. As for the 30%-45% raped in prison, I think that it is outdated. Not that many people go to the infirmary for a bleeding ass. At the most, for a 500 man prison, about 1 rape happens per year. The number rapes in prison is greatly exaggerated, although it does happen." As I noted in my original post, statistics in this area vary widely. I have no idea of where Michigan falls on the spectrum. My number of 30-45% was not for rapes in prison but rather for percentage of prisoners in on a drug charges-- which would include dealing. Agreed that the amount of rapes is hard to quantify, but my SWAG (Scientific Wild Ass Guess), based in part upon many conversations with prison guards, is that such a low number is quite remarkable. Any chance of some rapes not being reported so as to not be killed for being a rat? So here goes on this one!: 29th of April 2001 sees Richard Cotterill teaching an introduction to Balintawak in Newcastle upon Tyne. The course starts at 12 noon and lasts until 4pm. The cost is £25 in advance and £30 at the door. Let me know if you want more information. Cheers Bill Lowery ------------------------------ From: "Eric Primm" Date: Mon, 05 Feb 2001 16:08:59 -0600 Subject: eskrima: Paulson Video Review I am looking for a review of Erik Paulson's Combat Submission Wrestling seminar. Can anyone help me out? I am looking for content and instructional value. Production quality and sound is a secondary concern. Also, by content, I mean a general overview. Does he cover striking? Does he just cover ground? Does he teach exercises specifically for sub wrestling or vale tudo? I ask this forum knowing that he has connections with the Inosanto Academy, and I wanted any info I can get. Thank you, Eric Primm _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ From: "Johnaleen" Date: Mon, 5 Feb 2001 20:00:49 -0500 Subject: eskrima: Re: Practice knife Friends i have a question for you.. now i have resources to have what i am looking for custom made but. i would like to double check first if anyone knows where to get it now already in production. In some states the Balisong is illegal this i know but in the areas that i train/teach and survive the balisong is the realty. it is also a very good tool for working with around the house for building the coordination needed for the wrist rolls that go into some of the Eskrima styles that i work with. its also a lot more convenient with one balisong in my hand then a stick around the house all the time. sort of like worried beads you just sort of keep one hand playing with them wile your multi tasking at the same time.. anyway here is what i am looking for... i am looking for a practice balisong that is rounded on the tip and thicker of blade with no edge to it but with the same build as a normal balisong/butterfly knife...they just need to work the same way with the latch on the end opening and closing easily for practice of the wrist flicks and twirls. it needs to be legal and safe for training or practicing with in public.. let me know if anyone knows of where i can get something on these lines that is in production now.. because getting one made i have sources for that if i have to go that route... but its going to be way expensive doing it custom.. Thanks Kids Ms. Johnaleen.... Ps did you also know that the exercises that you do with the balisong helps maintain pain and inflammation from joint related disorders? yeah energy in motion.. especially with people that have wrist injury's as well helping to gain back the lost motor functions. just working the knifes for 10 min a day ( easily ) in the morning helps wake up the joints and get the blood flowing to relive morning swelling of the joints in your hands/fingers and wrists..
