Let me clear this one up right now. Whenever you see pictures of MA instructors training "The Army" at Ft. Wherever. Dont think this is an Army wide acceptance of an instructor or his art or a "hireing" by the military. 99.999% of the time its a Senior NCO or Officer of an individual unit who is a MAist. He just has somebody come and give a seminar for his Platoon or squad. You will probably never see a branch of the service giving all their "business" to a particular MA. As an NCO I could have just as easily had Frank Dux come a teach my squad as Dr. Gyi so this arguement isnt convincing to me. A. The new date is Saturday, March 10th. Dr. David Wink, a former student of Pekiti-tirsia Kali under Grand Tuhon Leo T. Gaje and Pentjak Silat under Suyardi "Eddie" Jafri, has spent the last 20+ years using full-contact fighting to test and develop his fighting system. On March 10th, Dr. Wink will teach a seminar on mixed weapons fighting. Today, it's not unusual to see people fighting head to head with the various classical weapons systems like solo baston vs. solo baston or doble baston vs. doble baston, but you don't often see people fighting with mixed weapons systems like: doble baston vs. staff, doble vs. katana, espada y daga vs. katana, or baston vs. daga. No doubt the warriors of the Philippines had to fight weapons of various types and ranges with whatever weapon or implement they happened to be carrying at the time. It seems that things haven't changed much except that instead of the jungle, most of us are more likely to have to apply our systems in an alley or parking lot. Join us and learn how to apply various weapons systems against weapons of superior range and or power. Date: Saturday March 10, 2001. Time: Starting at 10:00 AM and ending at 5:30 PM with a 1 hour lunch break. Has anyone really talk to people of substance like medal > of honor winners or people who have fought next to Gyi? Decent points. But even people who do a lot of clandestine stuff have military records. Sometimes the official record consists of an entry date, a discharge date, and a rank. All the allegations, of course, must be considered unproven. But "My record is so secret there's not even a record of my induction" must be viewed with more skepticism than "My record has lots of blank spaces that you won't be able to fill in without security clearances whose names are classified."
