You simply cannot deliver that kind > of force with your hand...as many boxers have discovered the hard way. There are single, closed, one hand strikes which CAN kill. It's not reliable, but it is certainly possible and has happened. Break the hyoid bone. Hit the heart at the right time to cause ventricular fibrillation. A powerful blow to the fontanel. Burst the bladder. Rupture the spleen or a kidney (if the kidney doesn't self-tamponade). Every one of these is well documented in the medical literature. Once again, these are not reliable. And I need to use my hands for things like typing and petting the dog, so if there's a reason to hit something with a club I'll use those opposable thumbs and pick up a nice, big, heavy one. Or use both of them to hang onto a shotgun and hit whatever it is from a good safe distance... ------------------------------ From: Date: Mon, 19 Feb 2001 17:54:47 -0600 Subject: eskrima: Re: Inayan_Eskrima/FMA-Digest V8 #96 >> >> >>I am talking about...don't just assume you know it. Andrew, you can nitpick all that you want, but where were you when this thread started? I was mistaken about where he got the promotion to 5th, but I was/am correct about who he earned it from as well as his being a 3rd under the IMAF. >This isn't entirely true, Bram did get his 5th from Shishir, but it >wasn't >in the PI. He has tested for his 3rd in Modern Arnis with >Remy, but isn't >currently involved with the IMAF. His IMAF involvement is a moot point. There are a considerable number of people who hold IMAF advanced ranking who are no longer associated with the organization and Professor Presas. Bet there are some stories there... but not for discussion here or as a cross current within this thread. >The only reason I bring this up is that he was recently attacked on >Bladeforums.com with a former business partner claming he was a >fraud, and >claimed all kinds of rankings he didn't have. So, I just >want to set the >record straight, before additional BS surfaces. Too bad that is happening to Guro Frank. He is a good man and he Can Back up his claims to ranks that he claims with certifcates as well as video footage of him training with some instructors. Claims by former business partners should always be taken with some caution. Ray Terry , wrote: >Subject: eskrima: Shishir >Ok, next question... :) Who is Datu Shishir Inocalla? What style is he? I can't help you there, Ray, but I can tell you that Shishir Inocalla, was associated with Professor Remy Presas, back in the late 1970's, and he was one of the first two people that Professor awarded the title "Datu". Our friends from Modern Arnis and others living in the Vancover and Victoria BC areas can add more.
