The questioner asked for South Yorkshire. Pat O'Malley is in Ossett which I believe is closer to the area requested. I've been to them in several places, but can't say that I care for the sport. I don't know what to look for in a good chicken, therefore betting is just a pure guess, with the likely result that I lose my money! ;-() - -- _______________________________________________ FREE Internet Email for the Martial Arts! And they are impressive. It is a testament to the effectiveness of FMA systems that Hock uses them as the cornerstone of his combat system, geared mostly to military and law enforcement, civilian survival and plain fighting skills. His bladework is not chopped liver either. I am neither a student nor an instructor to Hock. I have met and seen him in action in a couple of seminars and training camps. And he is also one of the good guys around. ------------------------------ From: Chad Date: Fri, 23 Feb 2001 23:53:27 -0800 (PST) Subject: eskrima: Re: Hair I've decided to start implementing hair pulling when we roll. Might as well get used to it on an average basis rather than 'hoping' to adapt the 'dirty tactic' from the sport aspect. We already implement pinching and finger thrusting. What do you guys think about biting during sparring sessions? Not chewing and eating each other, just placing enough of a bite to make the person squirm/aware, etc. What do you guys think? Has anyone seen anything that Gene Lebell does? He has a new book or video out about grappling with the stick. Has anyone seen that? I've never saw him before except in magazines. BTW, Eric and Arlan, what type of baseball gloves do you guys use, and any particular reason? I'm reffering to the white one that I've seen you guys use before. I had to fight without a glove last week because I misplaced my glove, and, not sure why, but I'm still a little un-easy about going bare skin for some reason. Probably mental, but that leather is a comfortor to me. On top of that, I developed some nice callasses(sp?) after only 5 fights. Hope this helps Rocky Pasiwk >> Is Jim still in Flint? I knew him from the old days at Degerberg's, back in the '80's. He's a helluva a guy, a great martial artist, and a good connection to make.
