I'm experienced in shotokan but my instructor has since moved to Florida and because I've had an interest in Kali for a while now...I thought I'd start something new. Can anyone make some recommendations or point me in the right direction? I'd prefer to have a specific instructor rather than a school that rotates instructors and I'm opposed to contracts as a matter of principle. I'm already aware of the following: http://www.pekiti-tirsia.org:8080/FMA/index.html http://francisfongacademy.com/homepage.html http://www.atlantamartialarts.com/country/phil.htm Regards, sean ------------------------------ From: "S. But I do hope that before one declare himself as "Datu", please take a few moment to learn about the historical aspect of "Datu" title, the significance and the responsibility that come with it. For the people where the word "Datu" originated, it is more than a title for accomplished martial artist. For all I care, you can even give the title of "Pope" to the head of your style and start calling your grandmasters "Archbishops" and "Bishops", but please do learn all you can about the titles and their significance before you use them. It is heavy, is legnth 40 inches and weight 4 to 5 lbs, may be more depend of the users preferred weight. Also their double bladed Palakol, and single edge Palakol, the handle of Philippine Palakol is Bahi wood, Yakal, and other hard heavy wood used as stick in Arnis/Eskrima. Palakol Techniques is the same techniques that we used in stickfighting and blades applications. Well just want to add something to your info about FMA weapon.
