I believe Top Dog shows how one shouldn't be used in DB tape #6-Mismatched weapons. :) Seriously though, there are a few guys on the tape that are using bokens and the short staff that have the right idea. I am not talking about the topado guy there, but rather the one wearing the coca-cola shirt, and I believe he was fighting with Salty.(?) I would say that you can also try numerado and sumbrada applying whatever you already know and adjusting where necessary. I have a question regarding the longer stick. I have a tendancy to break large sticks on the way down, What is a good wood to have longer sticks made from? I'm experienced in shotokan but my instructor has since moved to Florida and because I've had an interest in Kali for a while now...I thought I'd start something new. Can anyone make some recommendations or point me in the right direction? I'd prefer to have a specific instructor rather than a school that rotates instructors and I'm opposed to contracts as a matter of principle. I'm already aware of the following: http://www.pekiti-tirsia.org:8080/FMA/index.html http://francisfongacademy.com/homepage.html http://www.atlantamartialarts.com/country/phil.htm Regards, sean ------------------------------ From: "jon broster" Date: Mon, 19 Mar 2001 05:14:00 -0800 Subject: eskrima: Dan's Book, Jak Othman Hi I have an autographed copy of Guro I's book. It never occurred to me that it was worth anything. (No, it's not for sale!!) I just spent the weekend at a course in Notts. (England) with Guru Jak Othman of Silat Harimau Berantai. It was truly excellent. I would highly recommend him to anyone interested in silat. He is doing a course in London next weelend.
