First i asked the question so i could fully understand what you were saying.. i never asked you for ranks and titles but i cant understand a statement unless the realm and scope are clear to me.. you were making comparisons and i could not understand until you fully explained whether you were comparing to all FMA or just one or 2 styles... so i asked... keep the ego in check and off the battle field and you might be able to see that.. You made statements and i asked simple questions about where i was lost in the commentary that you were giving.. you say its what i perceive here? well no its what you portray and i wanted to have a clear picture of what you are instead of what you portray in your writings to be fair... Asking questions is how one Learns.... Giving answers is how one teaches... How you give the answers is what you will be protrayed as..... Someone asked a simple question regarding Hock's DMS course and it's relation to the staff and Jeff Allen politely replied. There was no mention of superior systems and definitely no "my style is better than your style" as some here have implied. Hock's SDMS is not Filipino Martial Arts per se, as Hock already stated in the e-mail Jeff Allen kindly posted. However, the DMS is influenced by Filipino Martial Arts as well as other methods of stick play. Just check out Hock's credentials to see where his training came from, it's clearly posted on his website. Yes, tons of Filipino systems include two-handed stick work, and by this I mean one stick being held by two hands, but most styles only devote a small portion of training time to this one aspect. Also, alot of these styles only teach a small portion of the material that actually exists or a small portion of the material that actually works out on the street. How many of these tons of styles have you actually seen their complete curriculm on two handed techniques? I think often we including myself lose objectivity through lack of knowlege. I remember studying Triandis in sociology and how there were guidelines to study a culture that didn't allow objectivity to be displaced Best Wishes to all that read my ramblings Pete Sampogna Master of all I Survey Soon to be King of my Dominion ------------------------------ From: Eli Silva Date: Fri, 13 Apr 2001 08:31:13 -0500 Subject: eskrima: RE: Inayan_Eskrima/FMA-Digest V8 #179 Dear Steve, I think the main issue here is that Hock's lack of acknowledgment that the heavy influence of FMA is not only the source but also his "discoveries" and "methods" were explored thru FMA, therefore he cannot disclose FMA as some "flowery and less functional" as he stated on the latest BLACK BELT magazine.... A hit is a hit. I don't care if it is single handed or double handed. IT HURTS!.....the point is like what GUOR ABON said, it depends how it is done and who is doing it to whom.... In the words of Sifu Bruce: ...a punch is a punch. therefore any hit by a punyo would surely damage anyone's face or head.....dig it?
