I have to admit that I never really looked at the FAQ and did not realize the wealth of information in it. Also I would like to express thanks to Tuhon Bill for providing all the links for knife sharpening. Some very good information. Now when my wife complains to me that she needs sharper knives I will show her the page on the Edgepro and ask if she has $240. LOL. Is it available in the regular bookstores etc or does one have to order it? Thanks for any info. ghsoto ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Wed, 18 Apr 2001 9:58:32 PDT Subject: eskrima: FMA FAQ > Respectfully, > Al Sardinas > Student of Garimot System of Arnis We could use an entry in the FMA FAQ on the Garimot System, if someone would care to submit one... Attending seminars? Teaching seminars? No offense, but I don't consider one who has not fought with his Martial Arts, be it in the street or in competition (any type of match), to be "experienced". And I think it's sad that in our day, we actually consider studying for more than one year with someone to be impressive. I know an 18 year old girl who studied with Mr. Presas for three years. Does that make her more experienced than Mr. Hockheim? Today's Martial Artist is very quick to run out and begin teaching as soon as he recieves rank, then make up his own style, certifying others, etc. Jay Get 250 color business cards for FREE! http://businesscards.lycos.com/vp/fastpath/ ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Wed, 18 Apr 2001 13:11:16 PDT Subject: eskrima: The KA of Kajukenbo Anyone have any history on Peter Young Yil Choo? Peter Y.Y. Choo was the KA part (Tang Soo Do, aka Korean Karate) of Kajukenbo, one of the five member 'Black Belt Society' that founded Kajukenbo on Oahu, Hawaii c1947. I guess Choo also had some boxing success in Hawaii at the welterweight class. Any additional info, esp wrt his TSD background? Thanks.
