Mr. Koblic, added to my original query, re: Date: Sun, 13 May 2001 16:38:48 -0700 Subject: eskrima: Quinn v. Blauer "Having seen the results of both I personally recommend Peyton Quinn's" Would you care to expand on the reasons why? I have no affiliation with either but would be interested in your analysis of the two approaches to teaching what appears to be (at least superficially) the same thing. Mike Koblic, Campbell River, BC> Response: Good question by Mike Koblic. I do appreciate Mr. Mac Young's response. Thanks. However, I believe both "The Animal" and Peyton Quinn are co-located in Colorado. Both have similar affiliations with Paladin and hence perhaps share commonalities. Moreover, I think I have read a few articles where Tony Blauer, who I understand was the original innovator of the rush-adrenalin training modalities, has publicly stated that his concepts and training methods have been "ripped off". In fact, I am almost certain, but do not have the literature in front of me, that Mr. Blauer was pointing his finger to Colorado ? Again, I state this at no particular individual. Just passing along what I have read. In sum, again not wishing to start a flame war. Just curious on how Quinn's work is different than Blauer's. For example, Tony Blauer has developed his combat training suit. Does Quinn use the same concept of a training suit with attackers based on unplanned scenarios. I think so. Blauer discusses psychological concepts of adrenalin dump and stress as early as 1980's. Does Quinn's theory vary on this ? Do either Quinn or Blauer acknowledge each other. Come to think of it. I will write to Tony Blauer and ask him at his forum. If he responds I will post it here. Again, I have no affiliation with either gentlemen. Just curious on who originated the stuff, who is considered the developer and so forth. Thanks, Ken McD... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! That is way too long and off topic. However a quick summation is that the guys that I have worked with who have gone through Peyton's stuff take a whole lot less "finishing" They are effective against a full on assault like you will get from an experienced brawler. Now you can move onto the small tweaks and neat stuff that allows them to control the amount of force they are using - the finess stuff that will keep you out of court. ------------------------------ From: abanico-video-knuettel@t-online.de (Dieter =?iso-8859-1?Q?Kn=FCttel?=) Date: Mon, 14 May 2001 09:08:05 +0200 Subject: eskrima: Re: Inayan_Eskrima/FMA-Digest V8 #228 > From: GatPuno@aol.com > Date: Sun, 13 May 2001 17:01:17 EDT > Subject: eskrima: Combat Arnis Hi Gat Puno, (Is this the right way to adress you?) > I just quoting that, because I know that somehow someone will guide him to > the right path of what he is looking for. Many things in this e-mail are not very positive, thats why I decided to write him privately, because I did not want to give the impression to other members of the list, that I am badmouthing somebody. I trained a lot with Rodel Dagoog. He also was very anice and a good, fast Arnisador. I learned a lot from him. Tony Silvera was the only Person in the Philippines that I know of, that Brocka mentioned to represent his associations IIKDF and IPMAA. I tried hard to meet him in 1983, but I could not establish any contact and therfor I did not meet him back then. > Sorry if I mistakenly that he is student of Remy, I know he very closed friends with the Presases > brothers. You are right, but it were Ernesto and Roberto. When he learned, Remy must have been in the states already. At least; WHEN I asrked Remy about Brocka, he could not remember him. If it is a new organization teaching Modern Arnis, does the leadership, headed by Datu Tim Hartman, have the acknowledgement and recognition of Professor Remy Presas? It is a wonderful gesture to dedicate the organization to Professor Presas, but if the IMAF is still in existence, isn't this new group creating some confusion with regard to Professor Presas' group loyalities? Thanks in advance for a reply from a member of the new group.
