One thing about Peyon's suit - the headpiece is LOCKED on there - it can take FULL elbows & knees (as in, when the BG is getting up off the ground and POW!) with no neck damage. It's more realistic for that, but less for the fact that this makes the headpiece HUGE (see the cover of Quinn's "Adrenaline Training" book). I'm looking forward to this experience. The vids I have from Blauer have a bit more "martial arty" stuff, though not nearly as much as a MA - it's still "street oriented". And he goes deeper into psychology, IMO (or maybe it's just his more academic flavor, I dunno) - I really like his audio tapes that go into combat psychology. I dunno "who ripped off whom", but it seems that fully padded attackers have been around quite a while - FIST & REDMAN suits have been used for this for years - IMO, these guys are just refining it all. jester ------------------------------ From: "Daniel Siazon" Date: Mon, 14 May 2001 17:04:47 -0000 Subject: eskrima: Doce Pares Sorry about the ambiguity of the previous post on the events of Doce Pares of Sacramento. I was the ONLY American over at that time. While in the hospital GM Presas offered to promote me to head of the system. I told him that there was no need seeing that I was his top active ranked (not cross ranked student) and there was no need to do that because he would be out of the hospital soon doing his seminars. I knew that this was not the case but my only concern was his health, not grabbing for rank. I left for home on monday and the rest of the American showed up a couple days after I left. What happened after that I can't tell you. My actions are to insure the survival of the art. As far as the Prof. blessings go, two IMAF black belt members have visited the Prof in Canada and this very topic was brought up. Prof told them that Tim has my blessing. Like the different JKD groups it is not about who is THE BEST, but rather who is the best for you. We at the WMAA are only offering a choice. Hopefully this will help clear up some of the confusion. Willy Annang died on Heart Attack early 90's, I believed Rodel is still teaching but is not for Modern Arnis anymore. Boy Tolentino got killed in Cotabato he a Srgt. in Armed Forces of the Philippines. >> Hi Gat Puno, (Is this the right way to adress you?) Yes, you can address me like this, or Gat Puno Abon or Guro Abon. >> Thank you for your help. I already tried to help him and wrote him a long priivate e-mail. Many things in this e-mail are not very positive, thats why I decided to write him privately, because I did not want to give the impression to other members of the list, that I am badmouthing somebody. But when a >>question is asked, the answers must be given. You are absolutely rights. I agree 101%. Well done.. >> I mae willie Annang in 1983 when I weas in Manila. a very nic man. I trained a lot with Rodel Dagoog. He also was very anice and a good, fast Arnisador. I learned a lot from him. Tony Silvera was the only Person in the Philippines that I know of, that Brocka mentioned to represent his associations IIKDF and IPMAA. I tried hard to meet him in 1983, but I could not establish any contact and >>therfor I did not meet him back then. I used to practiced with this group. I used to work in Manila Garden Hotel (Nikko Hotel) in Makati. Every Thursday and Saturday, I used to come bye to their group and play around sparring, just friendly no malicious what so ever all of them is friendly and open. I even invited them to come with me during Tournaments un-padded in Paete, Magdalena, Majayjay, and Famy to keep my title at that time till 1985, then I finally left Phil. for US on 1986. Then I never heard from them anymore that the last time I work with them. I represent Modern Arnis of the Philippines in my town for about three years, I used to teach in Eastern Laguna Colleges (ELC), then I got into a multiple fights I was banned for teaching by Ministry of Education Culture and Sports, they took my Certificate that Willy Annang Awarded me so I can used it to teach Arnis, but I am teaching Garimot Arnis not Modern Arnis at that time. Trn of the Student in College gathered and test my skills so I have to defend my self so I lost my temper. The next day I was arrested and bring in to court and lost everything lost my job, and the opportunity to teach the art that I grow up with. Okay is enaough sorry. I just feel that I found connection between you and the old friends that I have before. >>You are right, but it were Ernesto and Roberto. When he learned, Remy must have been in the states already. At least; WHEN I asrked Remy about >>Brocka, he could not remember him. No dis-respect to Proffessor Remy Presas, He dont know a lot of people around his organization after 1975 when he left Philippines. When he come visit here in Florida on 1993, we have good talk about what happen back then, he totally dont know what is up in Modern Arnis in the Philippines. He never went home eversince. We have the same talk last September with GM Ernesto Presas, we were together togehter in World Head of the Family, Sokeship Council, International Hall of Fame.
