As a martial artist and a police officer in the state of NY, I can assure you there is no reference to Martial Artists in the NYS Penal Law. MA Weapons Yes, but not the martial artist him/her self. In general, most hand/bare foot strikes/shoves are Harassment 2nd and only vioations. A shoe, large rings,a wall or floor (if intentionally slamed into) can be argued as a dangerous instruments and up the charge to assault. What a lawyer can argue in court is an entirely different matter...... I like the idea of using tatami due to not damaging the blade too much due to bad technique (good blades are not cheap). I was wondering if we (FMA practitioners) have the same type of practice with our live blade skills? What type of targets are used and contruction/materials utilized? So Dieter, in your first post, you only talk about some "Uwe Schwarz", now all of a sudden you have to come out with the specifics... He not is married to a relative of Canete, though he did meet his Filipino wife while being a student of Cacoy in the Philipines. >But I have to admit, that I find it extremly disrespectful to an art, if >someone, especially a head of a system in a country, comments another >art in such a way. actually, what did you intend with your post? >I have to say here also, that these statements are only from Uwe Schwarz >and have nothing to do with GM Cacoy Canete, whom I met in 1983 in Cebu >and for whom I have great respect. Are you speaking for GM Cacoy Canete? Be happy that he's old and far away! You really should not try to pull off all this crap. I agree that the Presas matter is humorous, only because it would seem quite unreasonable that a person with just 6 months of training would become such a pivotal figure in the FMA or any MA for that matter. The post was a set up... however, it could not be ignored by friends and students of Professor Presas. >This is one of them. I understand that this is at least an attempt at >a >good question. I really enjoyed reading the response that Mr. Hartman, made to Lamont Norshadow's questions and I stated the same on this forum. He and I are in disagreement about one matter of usage... I promised Ray, that I would write about that topic again. You and I disagree about that topic as well... so what? You are a friend of Mr. Hartman's, ok, and a cup of coffee at my favorite diner still costs 60 cents everyday. >People, as individuals, have faults. They have history. My point is that the entire opening set of facts as posted is so ridiculous as to be total nonsense. Let's leave the man's personality out of the discussion. Let's just go with the opening statements and question why anyone would be that damn stupid as to believe that this man was trained for only 6 months! If anyone is willing to believe that bs, then they deserve any fleecing that they get! >My fingers hurt. No mas.
