Sorry for being vague. What I meant was is there a benefit to wrapping the cord that way as opposed to having no cord at all. Is the handle cord an asset, or is it just there because it has always been there? Thanks! Not really sure I've personally seen any Eskrima sticks w/cords attached. This style of cord/stick arrangement is frequently used w/the Korean Dan Bong. A short stick (~12") used in Hapkido, etc. The cord can be used to manipulate the stick or to increase the reach and/or velocity of the stick. Any info would be appreciated Thanks Best regards Stéphane, Paris FRANCE ------------------------------ From: "Rocky" Date: Tue, 5 Jun 2001 16:40:33 -0400 Subject: eskrima: Last word to Al Al first of all I will respond for the last time in my usual asshole way as you put it. IN my original post I stated first I was not threatening anyone!, >Let see how good Remy's skills on you, I >play so many Modern Arnis before back home, now I would love to experience >to lost from one, if you can take me, like you claimed Now Al old boy here is a challenge, the above is a quote from GM Gat, now you show me where in my original post I even mentioned his name let alone a claim that I could beat him.. I was in conversation primarily with someone from Germany who was bashing Remy. Secondly I said Remy has a few fighters and I still stick by that, we have parted ways but I still appreciate his training he gave me. As I stated he has very few traditionally trained students, hence the word Modern in front of his art. This was the debate GM Gat and I had over a year ago. Because I simply believe Remy has one of the better/simplified self defense FMA's of course its a MATTER OF OPINION, now take note AL I said self defense not combat, Eskrimador against Eskrimador type of training, like PT, Doce, Serrada or many of the more traditional arts including What Gm Gat does, or DBM and many others. If I had to fight for my life against another Eskrimador, I would prefer the training obtained in anyone of the others I mentioned. And again read the following line twice if you have to Al old boy, I am not bashing Modern Arnis either, its just the art was simply designed for self defense not necessarily fighting. And unfortunately some people think that that means Remy doesn't know Eskrima as the guy from Germany suggested. Secondly how did I change my tone, I pretty much quoted my first post. I guess your just smarter than me maybe I should have you proof read my post first from now on, would that make you happy. And as far as my state ments about some of the Modern Arnis Masters, yes I was and can be diragatory towards them, especially the ones I know, who have insanely high ranks, do to politics, why would you have a problem with this. And if I had a problem with your instructor why would I encourage people in N.Y and Arizona to train with him, if they got the chance. In fact my friend and one of the much better Modern Arnis guys Tim Hartman in N.Y went to one of his seminars and and then told me that Gm Gat had some pretty cool stuff to offer. My words to Tim were hey take what he has to offer , and incorporate it. As for knowing what the Digest is about, I think after 5 ro 6 years of being on it, (Ray would know how many for sure) I think I can figure it out. In closing Al I have made my fair share of mistakes on this digest, and when I screw up I have always apologized in the past. WHEN I SCREWED UP BUT I JUST DON"T SEE WHERE I DID, maybe I should have said I wasn't challenging, instead of using the word THREATENING, but it seems everyone else got the point except you and GM Gat. But hey to each his own. >Well, >Rocky you started it, you now are running so that means your ass been kicked t>wice!!!! Next time Rocky, simply admit your mistake and that will be the e>nd of it! So Al Where am I running, and will you let me know when I get there, and boy does my ass hurt!!!! And Al I'll be hiding at ether my place of business, in Lincoln Park Mi., or my home in Lincoln Park, just 10 minutes from the airport, or Atlanta, in Aug, Flagstaff in July, and a number of other places in between.. Thanks AL for all the attention I so desperately needed xoxoxo Rocky ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Tue, 05 Jun 2001 17:09:16 PDT Subject: eskrima: Ringside seats > Now Al old boy here is a challenge, the above is a quote from GM Gat, now > you show me where in my original post I even mentioned his name let alone a > claim that I could beat him.. Rock, I think the point is that in your post of a couple weeks ago you issued an open challenge, perhaps without really meaning to. That challenge was accepted by Guro Baet. May I promote the event? Ringside seats only $599.00, available through Ticketmaster. :) Ray Terry raymail@hpwsrt.cup.hp.com ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Tue, 05 Jun 2001 17:10:42 PDT Subject: eskrima: . ------------------------------ End of Inayan_Eskrima/FMA-Digest V8 #255 **************************************** To unsubscribe from the eskrima-digest send the command: unsubscribe eskrima-digest -or- unsubscribe eskrima-digest your.old@address in the BODY (top line, left justified) of a "plain text" e-mail addressed to majordomo@hpwsrt.cup.hp.com.
