I asked him once if there was a reason for the differance on the sticks because it was never quite the same place. i was told that it depended on the actull lenght and weight of the stick where he put the whole for the cord.. He would as well keep these around the house here and there and we would work with this type of stick. he called it Escrima, Actully i asked him once and he just sort of smiled at me and said " its my combat Escrima " but he was a milatary man and sort of combind a lot of his foward scott training and milatary stuffs into his stick work. very interesting styling, very deadly and very much to the point...... But he was this kind of a man.......:) it suited him to be sure. Ms J. goes back to work... Dear feloow ED member, I just want to say thanks to all of you send me an e-mail from the the day that Rock throw an open challenge, up to his denial act. Thanks, again, I was undr the impression that he is for real, well I forgive him, he is just trying to shake the ED a bit, and he did a good job. Anyway, I think few of us would learn a little lesson of this childish act by Rocky. I heard a similar story long time ago, about Rocky's big mouth talking about GM Bobby Taboada's Balintawak its happen than I am very closed to Kapatid Bobby Taboada and few of his senior student e-mail me directly about this similar insident. So I guess that Rocky way of getting attention, well he got it, again thanks to everyone, Rey may be next time I would let you promote my fights, thanks.. Now I am a neutral observer and this is the stupidest thing I ever heard. This whole deal is really dumb and I think Rocky did it on purpose to get a rise out of all of you. I pick on Rock'y English but actually he is quite sly. I think you all have been pulled into the Rock's verbal sparring match and you are loosing. Nobody here on this list really thinks that being the biggest swinging dick for an instant in time against one opponant means anything do they? Ali swung a big dick once. Several years ago he could barely hold the pen to autograph my book. There is no honor in everyone remembering your girlfriend is Monica Lewisky. Great men are defined by a lifetime of merits. Just out of interest is there a standard format for stick fights in the P.I. Assuming this went on in the recent past, were challenge matches to the death or to first blood. I have been told stories of people knocking their challenger to the ground or disabling them with strikes but letting the fight finish at that and not going in for the "killing" blow. Probably the ideal result of a challenge is you soundly defeat your challenger, causing so mach damage he is unable to continue (or challenge you again) but pulling back from killing (if you good enough to have a choice). Killing someone has to lead to comebacks from your challengers friends etc. As a side note I finally got to view the latest Dog Brother video last night (there has been a postal strike in the UK in my area, which delayed the tape, thanks Crafty Dog). The tape deals with combining footwork with your stick, something lots of people have problems with during sparring. I now know how that nasty Eric knocked my kneecap into next week and also to keep out of Arlans way. Its funny I was feeling quite smug about my stick fighting (I had a good year last year) but the tape has opened up a whole new area to work on. Great tape, highly recommended. If you get the tape you also get to view a young good looking, charismatic stick fighter showing his footwork skills as well.
