Sprinting? .40 cal pistol? :) At 5'8" 164 LBS, I am about your size. First, spend time in the gym lifting iron. Strength counts; a lot! Second, I find kickboxing / Judo to be a good combination. Both will get you used to contact and to facing bigger opponents who are really trying to hit / throw / choke you. Oh, work on your speed and power. Lastly, yes, it sucks to be smaller, but that's life. We just have to make it up by trying harder and fighting smarter. Oh yeah. FMA is great for weapons work! Duh! But it depends on who is saying them and to what effect. And like so many things of value, words are often abused and lose credibility." Humpty Dumpty could not have said it better :-) "<< Then old Peyton Quinn threw his two cents in while we were sitting around his dinner table drinking beer: "The only true indicator of a teacher is the quality of his students." >> Truer words were never spoken...I heard it said many years ago that the indicator of an authentic "master" is the quality of the "masterpieces" he/she turns out." This is surely true only up to a point. You cannot make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Check the seminar page of our website for details. 3) I will be doing a seminar at Mike Hamilton's school in Columbus, Ohio the last weekend of October. Combined with my seminars at Jeff Brown's school in Dayton, this means I now get out to Ohio twice a year-- the better to train with Dr Gyi :-) 4) And, if I may be forgiven a moment of vanity, just hitting the newsstands is a "Black Belt Presents Reality Fighting" with an article on DBMA staff fighting.
