Pure and simple. Definsive killing? er...Maybe. It may be PC to say that the arts where developed for self defense and only those of moral character where chosen to learn but that's far from the truth. As uncomfortable as that may make people. Let's face it, tribal warefare was common and role of aggressor changed among the different people. Regards. Rest assured though that Guro Bandalan is teaching just south > of San Jose. I believe Jr. is active somewhere in the area, not sure if still in San Jose, tho. Perhaps over/up in the East Bay, like up in San Ramon. I -think- Sr. is now retired. Sr. counts Mike Inay as one of his instructors. Regardless, my original statement obviously still stands, esp given that San Jose was the context of the question. Premier, n. 1. first in rank; chief; leading. 2. first in time, earliest, oldest. Yep, correct on both counts. Let me start to the Yoyo, The Yoyo is first made record back before the Spanish arrival to the Philippines in my hometown Paete, Laguna Philippines. This is a toy at first, then weapon, used for distruction, and the original named for Yoyo is "Pukol-Pukol" a Malayan word meaning throws. As far as I know is alway part of Filipino Martial Arts. Check the Paetenians website for more info of Yo-yo at www.Paete.org In regards of "Nunchaku" we call this "tsoka" Paetenians words, Visayan called it Tabak toyok, Tagalog called it "Tsaku".. Is a Rice handler to us Rice farmer, before Bruce Lee shown this on Movies, my great Grandfather teaches this already. I believed in any Rice farming country has this, or somewhat similar to what we have, some are made even size some are longer than the other, some are made un-even size too. Anyway, its hard to find out how old this weapon, is tools first before it become weapon that for sure. I hope I give you enough info to anwswer your question, this is in on the Garimot Arnis point of view. Let hear other to this topic too. Thanks Gat Puno Abon "Garimot" Baet Laguna Arnis Federation Interantiona US Harimaw Buno Federation Hilot Research Center USA. << Next query: regarding the 'yoyo' and the "tambak toyok" (?) - filipino version of the nunchaku, how does this fit in in the history of the FMA?
