I have trained with GM Presas twice and found him enthusiastic about his art and very willing to give his knowledge. Have fun. If you want to hook up with some great Masters in Cebu, who won't charge you $1500 for 8 days, hit me privately. But, who am I to suggest you should not pay what you feel is important. It is your money. Have fun. McD... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Make international calls for as low as $.04/minute with Yahoo! I had bought a pair of sticks from him which I have to this day. However, I did not get to attend my first Presas seminar until Feb. 20-21, 1982. Remy was based out of the Choi Karate Institute in Los Angeles, which eventually offered Modern Arnis classes under Michael Replogle. I attended my last Presas seminar with several of my students on October 25, 1997--the Big Three Seminar (Wally Jay, George Dillman and Remy Presas), at Sierra College (Practice Home of the San Francisco 49ers) in Rocklin, CA (northern California). Remy and I did our usual catching up and chatted in Tagalog over break and lunch, and he autographed his book for me. That was the last time I saw and spoke with him. Salamat at paalam, kabayan, guro (I am a Modern Arnis practitioner via NARAPHIL and Arnis Philippines) at kaibigan. Thank you and farewell, countryman, teacher and friend. Can you give some geopgraphical/ethnic specifics, e.g. which province/geo area it came from (e.g. the Mountain Province, Lanao del Sur, etc.) or the people who created and used them (e.g. Ibaloi's, Pampangos, etc.) Better yet, if you have jpegs, send them along...I can promise we'll get the answer, but I at least pass it on to my panel of Phil. Little did i realize today would be such a Sad Day, as i rushed around to finish the official outline of our Level 1 belting and testing requirements for my students in FATE Filipino Martial arts, making sure to cover my teachers and there input into mine and my co-founders training and evolution into our system of FMA for FATE. Little did i know today would be spent keeping promises, I had promised my students i would have there level one testing requirements to them this day. i did not want to let them down so i worked though the night to clean it up and go over it all.. Professor had a huge impact on both of us that co founded our system, his training-teaching and art of modern arnis were part of both of our cores in FMA. Little did i know,as i was remembering the time training under professor and his art and his teachers, that i would be on the same day, remembering him and honoring him so permanently in the path and evolution of the FMA system we teach to our students, Little did i know when i was handing this full list of our first year curriculum and belting requirements to MY first up coming level 1 instructor that it would be so important. this was at 7pm eastern standard time this evening. little did i know as we were going over the 9 pages of requirements, and started going over Remys area of exercises and striking patterns that he was passing at the time. Little did i know how sad i would be now, as we spoke about the core layout of the system we talked about professors health and the sadness that we both felt over his illness, this was between 730 pm and 8pm eastern standard time, Little did we know his passing was taking place as we were remembering him and his core modern arnis... going over his strikes-counters and disarms. little did i know i would be remembering his last words to me as he was passing, this was over a year ago in a parking lot, this was said in reference to me bringing with me to this seminar one of Professors older blackbelted students, that he had not seen for many many years, he was so pleased that day that he even bowed to me from across the room in thanks... As He smiled, his last words were that day to me were " its good you brought him back, dont let him disappear again and dont let him forget his Modern Arnis.. I looked back and promised him that would never happened again and that i would never let him or anyone forget. Little did i know this evening that i would be keeping my promess in such a way, not only To professor, but his old time student and the future students of our school......... Professor has passed though it will be imposable for his memories or art to ever die. i hope that others will remember what was most important to him now that he has passed, even this last sentence to me over a year ago, his love was with his art and his students. Little did i know it would be Such a Sad Day....... He truly was an Eskrima pioneer and one that dedicated his life to the cause - so in effect a true Eskrimador. With just shy of one year since the passing of our own father in the art, Mangisursuro Mike Inay, we can understand your great loss.
