Regarding my earlier post on information on Sam Corral, Manila-Angeles City, PI, I ran across this blurb in a search: This guy who teaches the system (name omitted) sounds like a real street fighter. He also teaches automatic weapons training, ballistics, and knife street techniques. Thinking of meeting him in Manilla and Angeles. He is on another list that I am on. But, it is comprised of guys who hang in Angeles City, re: beer drinkers and low life types. Not the clean cut types often pontificating. Anyway, again= any information on this system advise. Hello All,

I returned home from a family vacation tonight to read the sad news about Professor Presas' passing. While I have only been studying Modern Arnis for the last year or so, under Guro McConnell, I have been unable to avoid noticing the impact that GM Presas has had on the lives of those who have met him, trained with him, and shared their lives with him. My deepest condolences go out to the Presas family. While I have never had the honor of meeting the Professor myself, I remember every day that he gave me the art that I love. For what he has done for the FMA it would seem we are all grateful, and and I am sure he will be remembered fondly.

Requiescat In Pace, Remy

Having said that, may I say that you are comparing apples and oranges. As surfing the web will attest, anyone can set up a large organization, worldwide. There are many certificate chasers that will join anything if it gets them another scrap of impressive looking paper. As to who has been heard of and who hasn't, that is a matter of PR not MA. Within any interest group you can find people that have promoted themselves to where they are household names, in that special interests category. But to say that the ones that haven't achieved the celebrity status are in some way inferior in ability is rather simplistic. Take a trip to New York, or Hollywood or Nashville. For every extremely talented, well known, rich and famous actor/actress, singer and musician, there are scores, if not hundreds that are as good that weren't at the right place at the right time. Leo Gaje had the good fortune to be introduced to the martial arts world through Dan Inasanto, as have several others. Bruce Lee got his break through Ed Parker. Would either of them achieved the success had they not gotten that lucky break? Who knows. Sometimes the difference between fame and fortune, and waiting tables while holding onto a big dream is something as simple as wearing the right sweater and sitting at the right soda fountain at the right time. As to whether GM Gajes seminars are worth the money, that is a moot point. If I had it right now I would be there. I had a long discussion with GM Ramiro Estalilla regard GM Remy Presas' passing and he would like to express his sadness and extend his prayers to the Presas. He spoke of his friendship and heartfelt feelings for GM Presas. GM Estalilla fondly remembers having long talks with GM Presas regarding his Eskrima manuscripts and regarding GM Estalilla's theological training. The Ministry was an important element between the two friends. May the Lord comfort the family and friends of GM Remy Presas at this time of grief. Your Manong has given much to all of you.
