I'm considering purchasing the Gunting Knife and Gunting Trainer, and I was wondering if the Training Videos would also be a worthwile investment. Thanks. There are some people listed who I expected, to see thus is no surprise and there some others that I am delighted to see, because the inclusion of these people opens the doorway to more major instructors as well as serving as an indicator that the FMAs are going to be around for quite some time. This my third attempt to get this post through, it seems that my new computer software and fileserver are "at war" and will not give me a plain text submissionh to the ED. I have some of the same selections and a couple additions of my own: place: 1. Guillermo "Bobby" Taboada - North Carolina, 2. Dan Inosanto - So. California, 3. Tom Bolden - Poughkeepsie, NY, 4. Narrie Babao - San Diego. 5. Abon Baet - Miami, Florida, 6. Jason Inay - No. California 7. Paul Vunak - So. California 8. Jimmy Tacosa - Chicago. IL 9. Bram Frank - Clearwater, FL, 10. Sultan Uddin - Los Angles, CA. Kes41355@aol.com, mentioned some of the same people and he also mentioned his instructors: Bob McDonald, Gary Bowldes, Ben Berry, and Alan McLuckie That gave me a slightly different group of people to look at and consider working with during my business travels through the country. Norshadow@ecc.edu, wrote a very nice piece with brief intros that gave me some more people to consider: >1. Punong Guro Eddie Lastra - Lastra-Sayas Arnis - San Francisco > Largo Mano/ Cinco Teros striking style. A very active system > with strong footwork and an excellent espada y daga component. > >2. These men were recognized by the GMs Board of Directors at the "Kenpo Gathering of Eagles" last month in Las Vegas as "Senior Maters fo Kenpo and Eskrima". It is my understanding that they received this honor from a group of 9 GMs, none of who were their immediate instructors. This would have to be considered quite an achievement, that is totally devoid of politics and based on ability. Hi, A friend of mine that will be visiting the Philippines consistently over the next few years is hoping to use the opportunity to train in another system and is interested in the garimot method. He has asked me to post a few questions here about GM Gregorio Baet in Laguna. What he would like to know is what his system is and is there an area in which he specialise? Does he accept foreign students? There's no mention of him on Gat Puno Abon Baets history page. Has he influenced the Garimot system in any way? How would one go about arranging training with those teachers listed in Laguna? Any other info would be gratefully received. thanks in advance. Is it meant as a promotion of the Catholic Church, if so give me a break, or is it meant as an education experience, again pleeeeease, or is it meant as a joke? Did I miss something here? The text is from the "Catholic Encyclopedia on the Philipines" from 1908, of course the natives were "heathens" and uncivilized. To be fair I would say yes the Christian religion did, and does, some good, and I think alot of people who have some information on the Christian Missionary movement throughout the world would disagree with the tone, and content, of the text (to be generous.) People in the Americas (let us begin with Native Americans), Asia, Africa, the Middle East, the Polinesians and Austraia were brutilized, murdered, plundered and raped in the name of God, Jesus Christ and the Christian religion. A great reference about how the Spanish conducted themselves in Peru (I think one could say that it is a mirror of how they treated native populations wherever they "went a conquering") is "Guns, Germs, and Steel" by Jared Diamond. There are other perspectives about the subject. I feel that putting that piece in your digest is an insult to native peoples throughout the world, both past and present. I hope the e mail was a joke because for the life of me I can't figure out why it was on the Digest. "A man who has attained mastery of an art reveals it in his every action."
