I was only able to spend a few days, but they were great. GM Pedoy was in his '90s, I believe, and still exerted quite a presence. I couldn't tell you what his size really was, but I remember him as being big. Looking back, I realize it wasn't his physical being but his spritual that left me with that impression. We worked out some, mostly joint locks. GM could wad you up in a ball in a hurry. He checked my skills, gave a blessing and promoted me. Quite an experience! We spent most of the time talking, he asked after my training and teacher and talked of Deribio and his life, I've always regreted not having a tape recorder. With the posts on Master, etc,...... I know one when I see one, it's not something sought, but something earned. There are a lot of people with the skills, but few with the inner being that makes a true Master. The reasons are probably too great to go into at this point; and besides this day is not about me. However I do want to mention how lucky I feel to have been chosen by Mangisursuro to help carry on his art (and in actuality, his life!). I'm about ready to head on out to this year's memorial workout, and I would be remiss if I didn't say how honored I am to part of The Circle that will help represent Mangisursuro's life tonight. Mangisursuro, if you are listening, you should know that I'm still loyal to you, and your wishes while you were still here. Your son, Jason, and your daughter, Jena, are doing an outstanding job. I have nothing but confidence in them, as well Masirib Defanti and Masirib Peterson. You would most certainly be proud. I know you will be watching over us tonight, and you can be sure that we will be watching over your life's work.... Thank you for giving me part of your life Mangisursuro, Joseph Tesoro ------------------------------ From: kalkiusa@netscape.net Date: Fri, 28 Sep 2001 01:14:03 -0400 Subject: eskrima: Tucci Has anyone checked out Rick Tucci's Kali series? As one that has taught for some time, yet do not in any way consider myself a "Master." I do however know more than my students, and as the alternative where I am is driving 30 miles to attend a Tae Kwon Do class that only fight in house, ( no slam to Tae Kwon Do) my students and I train together. Sometimes, it is like health care, if you cannot find a Doctor a nurse or EMT beats nothing. Frankly, I would love for a true Master to come here! Then I could learn more also, instead of having to travel to seminars, etc., ( Any FMA Masters looking for a home?) I've been training in a chinese system known as Iron body/Silk Mind and find it very beneficial concerning my stickfighting. Sifu, Darrin F. Coe ------------------------------ From: "LARRY ST. I can't wait to begin to play with them some. The question I want to ask is this : Has anyone here used these exercises for an extended period of time and if so what results (if any) did you see. Thanks in advance. ............ hey ken, man I'm telling you these exercises are great. I've been doing alot of them from my high school wrestling days. then added a bunch of plyometrics and wrestling drills on the ball too. then I finally read enough articles on Furey and decided to take the plunge. been doing the royal court as he calls it at least twice a week so far. I've seen all my endurances go up. kickboxing, wrestling and definitely stick. it really works your lungs while doing exercises that are good for the joints. hope you enjoy them. saint ------------------------------ From: Ray Terry Date: Fri, 28 Sep 2001 7:43:58 PDT Subject: eskrima: . ------------------------------ End of Inayan_Eskrima/FMA-Digest V8 #433 **************************************** To unsubscribe from the eskrima-digest send the command: unsubscribe eskrima-digest -or- unsubscribe eskrima-digest your.old@address in the BODY (top line, left justified) of a "plain text" e-mail addressed to majordomo@hpwsrt.cup.hp.com.
